You all must have more money than me (more than likely) or a higher tolerance level for 'over priced tat' wink

If they're not noticeably more expensive I might get the special edition for the sake of the extra game content, but other wise they can whistle. I bought the collectors edition of 4 because they were the only ones left in the shop. I got home, put on the CD which instead of playing music from the game, just played clips, stuffed the lot into the metal case thing and chucked it under my bed - I felt dirty afterwards ha ha.
Sad as it sounds, it's not the extra tat I'm interested in so much, but those extra in-game bits in the collectors edition, though I do question my sanity when I'm paying an extra £50 or so over the special edition for a hot rod, a bike and the ability to use some extra skins in a multiplayer mode I'll dabble in at best.

The jury is still out and it will depend on how flush/insane I'm feeling come September.

On the R* website they say the Collector's Edition will cost $149.99 so £120 sounds about right. I'll still go for it I think.

Also, on their website on the pre-order bit where they say 'custom online multiplayer skins' it has a picture of Nico from GTA IV...

I guess you get to fly the blimp for pre-ordering.

No way I'll pay £120 for the extra content, no way, it's not like I'm living hand-to-mouth, far from, but £70-£80 is a months worth of uplifts on my bike, a meal out with the wife, or a tank of fuel.

God I'm a bitter tight old man these days...

Yay for being in my early 20s! I'll just go on one less night out!

You still get the blimp no matter what edition you pre-order apparently.

TBoGT and TLaD add some nice new vehicles, although some are depressingly rare.
There's a Hyabusa (or however it's spelt when you're not half asleep) and er.. a 1098 too.
and there's a car that I think is supposed to be a Maser GT and a Rolls and a super duper purple flip paint police car.

Playing club business last night I got the job to destroy some Japanese bikes, one of them was a Hyabusachu (or whatever it's called) and I decided to try something, took it to P&S, shot it till it started flaming and that counted as it being borked, so I got on and it got fixed, RESULT! Now, I did catch fire (oops), but I had a Hackabusa, in multiplayer biggrin and one of the other guys watched me do this so I re-spawned right next to it.. only to watch him needlessly blow it up. Que angry message. So for some reason everyone is sat around not getting the last bike so I go get it, a Double T. I do the thing again. Same guy blows it up again.

I really hope they improve the kick/ban/report for hacking mechanism in V.
I'm sorry but that is funny, laugh

£120? rolleyes
But I would be a tots badass cruisin round wiv dat LS innit bruv.

srs though I knew they'd do this. The bits I want, the in-game, which costs 0 for them and has 100% margin per unit, gets the massive price tag. But they justify it with useless tat I don't want.

idk why the important bit, the e-peen online mode bonus car, is a frickin electric car. I mean not that it makes a difference really because it's just a game and I'm sure it'll be a magical imaginary electric car which somehow competes with an ICE but they're hardly pandering to the petrol head are they?

Will it not be possible to just pay £30 for a standard copy? I've fallen for enough 'special editions' to know that the only thing special about them is the purchaser.

If could pay less and get it in a plain cardboard sleeve then I'd be even happier.

Still want a disc though, I draw the line at digital - my intangible shelves are already full.

Yea there's a standard version, probably £49.99 as seems to be the going rate for games these days rolleyes
Agree on the cardboard sleeve, I don't want any of the physical tat, give me the map and the disc and the rest is a waste of space. But damnit I want all the vehicles!
I wonder if they'll ever release the special-super-duper edition vehicles as DLC later? Pay £4 and get stuff that cost the special buyers £70 laugh

The only things I really want are the extra vehicles. The extra weapons you'll most likely be able to buy later in the game anyway, they'll just give them to you at the start and take away some of the challenge early-on. The stunt plane trials will probably be good fun too, but I'm not interested in boosting character progression, nor the physical tat bar the map. I'll bet you see people selling the DLC codes for a tenner or more on eBay come release day.

I really do hate all this "Special Edition" and "DLC" bullscensoredt. - I remember when you used to pay your money and receive a full game in return (and the map in the box).

Same here. I also get pissed off with downloading it even though I don't want it - I'm looking at you here GT5.

The only "DLC" I've ever bothered with was the "Lost & Damned" and "Gay Tony" as they were great games in their own right. Didn't download them though, I bought the disc.

I also bought the zombie game for Red Dead, but didn't like it. Never bothered with any of the other nonsense available in Red Dead (horses, outfits etc).

I'm not even that fussed about the map really - I find I use them a bit to start with, but then don't bother.

What I mean by "DLC bullscensoredt" is the situation where the DLC is created before the release of the game but sold separately purely because the manufacturers are being greedy gits. - I have no problem with "expansion packs" like TLAD & TBOGT but paying extra for a couple of weapons and cars that are obviously "locked" in the standard version of the game? irked

With you on that one, it's just 'created value' they've taken a full game, decided to up the profit margin on it by removing a few carefully chosen minor aspects to be sold off to the faithful.

I remember back in the late '90s buying 'MechWarrior 3' for the PC. It came in a big cardboard box; inside was a jewel CD case with the disk inside, a book explaining the context of the game, history etc., a quick reference guide for the keyboard controls (it was a complicated game) and another booklet that had the specifications of all the Mechs (combat vehicles) in the game. This was all in a normally-priced, standard box.

Nowadays all you get in the DVD case is a warning about epilepsy, copyright BS and advertising for other games / random tat. frown

You don't really need any of that nowadays though, OK it's nice for a bit of toilet browsing, but they're saving paper these days by improving tutorials (thus reducing the need for lengthy manuals) and including lots of documentation in-game.

I still have the original driving guide that came with Gran Turismo cool

That is made all the more awesome by the book using an MX5 as a diagram for perfect weight distribution etc driving
