I was day dreaming yesterday about a £30k budget. My hog would have to be pre - '89. Preferably with a balsa wood knobbed long gearstick and no centre console, narrow body. Hairy cam and a suitably anti social pipe.

yes
That'll just about get you into a titchy-tiny 996 GT3. wink

Send the cheque and I'll put on whatever gear knob you want having removed the CD-holder centre console. wink

Dry stored? Didn't you say that you pissed yourself in it a few times when you were kipping after a few too many sherberts?

Can you just enter the N24 or do you need things like a race licence and mechanics?

You expect me to read after 12 on a Friday?

I don't have a race licence anyway, and if I had to do 1 lap in the conditions from that video I'd be a gibbering wreck by the time I got back to the pits.

It feels a lot bigger, though. The cabin is more spacious, and the distance from driver's head to bottom of windscreen is much increased.

I wonder if VAG might be gently pushing Porsche into making everything a bit larger to leave room for a new baby model.

A Lupo to the Boxster/Cayman Polo, if you will, with all my apologies for the slightly nauseating metaphor.

I was just about to post about how the old chestnut about cars being bigger nowadays perhaps isn't as true as we tend to think, considering how massive a frigate the W11x looks in the pic above.

For a given class. Yes.

Whilst the development cycle for the current Porsche Range probably pre-dates VW taking the helm, they have been platform sharing on the Touareg / Cayenne for a while. There was talk of a wee VW thing about the size of an Elise about a year of two ago, so they might well have been planning to platform share on this for a good while...

Im no expert but isnt the aim of introducing new models to expand the brand? How do you ensure that the new model doesnt just take away sales from other models in the range.

Until you've taken all sales from every other competitor, it doesn't really matter.

I may not be explaining myself properly but if you can make $3000 from one model of car why would you introduce a model of car that makes you $2000 when people could buy that instead of the $3000 one.

So why introduce a lupo type porsche when it would take sales from a Boxster or Cayman? You would need to be pretty confident that the new sales made would outweigh the loss of value and given the way the GT86 has sold is the small coupe/ sports car market that desirable?
