Can someone do a test for me please?
When the phone is set to loud and you keep the 'down' volume key pressed does the phone stop at vibrate, or does it go into silent?
My old phone would go straight to silent. This stops at vibrate and I can't remember if the Nexus 4 is suppose to either. Or if I'm just getting confused.
Mine goes to vibrate. Have to click it once more to set to silent. When the phone is set to loud and you keep the 'down' volume key pressed does the phone stop at vibrate, or does it go into silent?

Thanks for that. I couldn't remember if my first Nexus 4 did it, or if I was getting confused with the HTC I had before.
The case is nice. Very little bulk added to the phone. I've left the screen protector that ships with the phone one for now. You can't really see the icons that much.

Not having much luck me. New phone has a working camera and doesn't take itself from silent mode.
I've had two random restarts then nothing.
However I plugged it in to charge last night and it went straight from 30% to 100%.
So I played a YouTube video to drain it and then turned it off and on. Came back at 2%. Plugged it in and it turned straight off. So turned it on again and left it over night to charge.
So powered it off and on again to see see what happened with the battery and then the date went back to 1970.
I'll hope this is all just some random first week thing never to be seen again.

If that's the Nexus 4, RMA it immediately.I've had two random restarts then nothing.

The replacement seems to be fine now. Touch wood. As if something upset it on the first charge. It's the newer one with the feet.
If it plays up again it can go back. I'm still waiting for the money to be credited back to my account from this First RMA. I sent the old one back last Wednesday and TNT have confirmed delivery. Nothing from Google though.

i seem to be having similar problems with charging. hoping its just a one off, will see what happens next time it needs a charge
Mine has done similar twice. Plug it in, it goes straight to 100% and then you unplug it and it goes back down. A restart has always fixed it for me. I've had the phone about 3 months now and that's been the only real issue.LordGrover said:
I may have got this wrong, but recently I saw someone mention google no longer supports push for non-exchange clients - I think. I'll have a mooch around and report back...
ETA: click.
As far as I understand it, that only applies to Gmail accounts (which mine isn't), running on iOS devices (which, obviously, mine isn't). ETA: click.
Had my Nexus 4 now for two weeks, very impressed. Previously had a Galaxy S3, which was a year old and had taken a beating. I figured the Nexus 4 would make a good companion to my Nexus 7.
Pros:
Price - Asda gave me £180 for a very battered S3 so this cost me £100 all in
Design - It's a touch thicker than the S3, and the screen's smaller, but it's much better looking, I love the sparkly back. The rubbery texture round the edge was a nice surprise too
Pure Google - I didn't expect this to bother me as much, but it's just so much nicer to look at than Touchwiz, plus the OCD in me loves how it's the same as the N7
2GB of RAM - This really blows the S3 out of the water. The S3 didn't feel slow, but what surprises me is when I go into an app I was using a couple of days ago on the N4 and it's still running in the same place
Cons:
Storage space - It's an obvious one, but not too much of a problem. I had 16GB internal and 16GB external in the S3, though Android made the external a bit of a faff to use. I've slimmed down some music and left the rest on Play Music to stream and still ended up with 6GB spare even after installing big games like Real Racing 3 and transferring my 1000 odd photos
Durability - Too new to really comment, but I'm disappointed that the N4 already has a scratch on the screen. The plastic back and sides of the S3 were wrecked when I sent it off, but the screen was as new, despite being thrown face down across the floor a couple of times (unintentionally!)
My only further issue at the moment is that I keep hear it clicking in my pocket, apparently when I've got home or to the office, it's connected to the wifi and turned the screen on and managed to unlock itself. Not sure of a fix to this other than pattern or code protecting it, something I don't really want to do.
If a successor comes out in the winter for a similar I expect I'll upgrade but probably keep the N4 as a spare.

Is there a simple way to forward a text message? Ìt may be me but I was unable to find one.
Press and hold the message you want to forward, and it should bring up a menu, then just press forward.oldnewbie said:
That does not work for me, no menu options at all, only the bin icon at the bottom of the screen.
You need to actually go into the relevant message thread and then press and hold on the individual message you want to send. It's not working for you at the moment because you're pressing and holding on the entire conversation, which may contain hundreds of individual messages - it won't let you forward all of them.
