Hi Andy..Well i bought them with the differences un-be-known to me..Not sure what effect its going to have but the garage did not seem too bothered by it..He wouldnt of re-worked the CR and fitted them if he thought it was not ideal..Cheers...Ziga

Also they said that i have two different heads on the car!..One had machined valves seats and the other had umbrella..He wasnt that concerned though so im not worrying..Especially as i havent a clue what he is talking about
Machined valve seats means very little, are they the standard machined valve seats in the cast iron, or, machining in the cast iron to accept hard valve seats.

The umbrella is 'likely' to be the type of oil seal fitted to the top of the valve guide to valve stem, you can use the standard 'conventional' seal type or umbrellas which I would describe as a small cup with a round hole in the base, its upturned and fits over the valve stem in side the valve spring, it acts as an umbrella to reduce oil making it's way down the valve guide.

Hi peeps..Well got delilah back and bloody hell!...eek..She pulls like a train..The electrical gremlins were nothing too major..The power steering pump connection has been knocked apart by a clamp under the steering..A couple of hic cups..The blower reservoir spat all the oil out so i have attached a long piece of pipe like it came with although it doesnt go anywhere..I seem to have an overheating issue now but will bleed the system tomorrow or i might have to bite the bullet and splash out on a new alloy rad and kenlowe 2 speed fan..But all in all..

Be jeesus.... driving..I will take a vid of me driving once i sort the cooling out..We had to change the servo..(Another story)..Here is some pics pre-cleaning...Cheers...Ziga

Hi Mark

Good news.

Ref the overheating you have a newish enlarged Rad so you don't need an ally one unless its for bling!

Just work through the problems one at a time and you will soon have them sorted!

The wheels look OK

Hope you sort it for Wed so you make it to the ACE!

Andy

Great news Zig, can't wait to see and hear her at the fest.

You should go into business selling kits to the 280 boys, they'll be drooling over Delilah !!

Can you post some piccies of the pipe arrangement? I would be careful here because the oil reservoir keeps the blower fed with lube...

Hi Andy...Im hoping i dont have to upgrade the rad but an alloy rad can be more efficient at cooling..Im wondering if the existing one is enough as the sierra rad did have a larger surface area...Bling is good but 500 sobs on one bit is a bit OTT...scratchchin...I think...hehe

Hi Adam...Here is a pic of the res...You can see the yellow arrow pointing at a bung i made from pipe and a plastic blank plug with a tiny hole in..Originally it came with around 7" of pipe just pushed into the opening which someone might of feed an oil cooler..I have taken the bung out and fitted a piece of pipe the same length as it first came with...I might use my old water catch tank as an oil catch tank..Cheers...Ziga

As mentioned o the phone matey, I would take your time and get all the air out of the coolant system. Likewise it may be beneficial to take the existing stat out and experiment with various temp ones to get the optimum, its summer anyway ... is it??

You do not want to have any issues of overheating or oil loss when you start stressing the engine on the rollers!

If they know their stuff they can then get the optimum map setting for you and then sort out the idle issues.

Take your time you are now on step 13 of 20 yes

Chris

Hi Adam...Here is a pic of the res...
What about underneath - I can't see in this piccie - can you do one more to the side of the reservoir - is there a second pipe also going to the blower?

The top pipe is the overflow/circulation pipe.

Hi Adam...There is another pipe which is underneath the oil res which goes round to the other side of the blower which is lower than the fitting in the pic...It is also positioned at the right height as not to over-fill...I will try to get a pic of it this morning.Cheers...Ziga

Hi Chris..Will do a bleeding session this morning...(No im not angry)..wobble..The only problem with removing the stat now is that i will have to remove the alternator also as its very tight in there now..Said the actress to the bishop!...Cheers...Ziga

As requested mate..Its only a short one and you cant really hear the blower over the exhaust..On the return you can see an elderly gentleman on the right in a blue shirt..He had an angry look on his face and was waving his walking stick at me..hehe..He always gives me a dirty look!..Anyway here is a little taster of delilah..Still requires a tune as she keeps stalling...An alloy rad and uprated fan is in order as i have bled the system but it just cant cope..Enjoy..More to come...Cheers...Ziga

OK regardig the reservoir that souns like standard. The reservoir should be kept half-full. You'll find it might consume about a centimetre of oil every 500-1000miles or so. So check it periodically and top it up a bit.

Did you fill it right up to start with?
