I remember when Pistonheads was for people who loved to drive interesting and fast cars.
Can someone explain to me how such perfectly marketed blandness, lapped up by the middle management masses generate seven pages of utter drivel in such a short time?
Just wondering

Er was that meant for this thread? It's a good car and in 435i form should prove an entertaining and sporty drive. Nice RWD chassis and 6-cylinder engine are the perfect petrol head ingredients yet still suitable for the daily commute and donkey work. Won't be slow either with a 5.3 sec 0-60Can someone explain to me how such perfectly marketed blandness, lapped up by the middle management masses generate seven pages of utter drivel in such a short time?

Pre e92 Bm's looked dated / old fashioned within a couple of months.
Since the Bangle design influence Bm's have become more modern and timeless looking.
Others like MB and Audi have started looking dated.
Few manufacturers have managed to create a new identity the sculpted look is pure BMW whether it appeals or not it's unique and has a timeless element which few others can match.
4 series look like it'll be another good seller.

They tried that when they brought in Bangle and loads of people moaned then, they can't win!
No manufacturer can ever please everyone; or even the majority of people, usually. Ultimately it doesn't matter how much any one individual likes or dislikes the car; all that matters is how well it sells. kambites said:

This is why I like the older ones - modern cars are, almost universally, foul. For me "modern" is an insult and "dated" a complement.billzeebub said:
The 4 Series thing is just an easy/cynical marketing ploy to let BMW hike prices across the board on the Coupe
It's amazing what businesses do to turn a profit and keep trading. The upside is at least BMW will still be in business if you buy one and need spare parts.
Doing something more right than wrong?

It's gone up £500 over the old 3 series coupe. Some year on year increases are more than that for the same car.
It'll be interesting to see how the price of the M4 compares to the E92 M3. If they're going to make money by pushing the price up anywhere, I'd imagine it'll be there.
