Joe Kinnear to be Director of Football. After last years terrible season Ashley does this, just shows we have absolutely no ambition.

I predict trouble ahead for you lot.

Joe Kinnear saying he hasn't spoken Pardew and he'll have the final say on transfers.

I'd be fking livid tonight if I was Pardew.

Mike Ashley is a total fking mystery to me, he's so tight he only breathes in but he wastes money on employing this Muppet. Relegation looms rolleyes

I've heard rumours of Pardew only being in line for 1 years worth of cash if he got the sack. So why not just get rid of him? Then the problem would be finding a manager to replace Pardew.

yes

Very odd after what has gone before (and who others appoint as DOFs).
Can only assume that Roy is a mate of Ashley's, or has something very juicy on him, because otherwise, does not compute.

Personally, I think it's quite decent of Ashley to provide us with the entertainment the players so miserably failed to do last season.

The fking cock.

unbelievable events at your place, do not understand Ashley's motives at all, this just doesn't make any sense at all and the quotes coming from Kinnear underline what a classless twunt he really is.

Got to be honest, I've never liked the guy. Can't put my finger on it but he comes across as an arrogant know-all with an over inflated opinion of himself.

Paul McCarthy, the journalist, says that he's already mentioned that he won "Manager of the Year" three times but might want to check the record books. Very strange that Kinnear has come out ahead of Newcastle's press conference to proclaim himself the new saviour of the club.

Can only see this ending in tears.

he's an idiot, there's plenty of evidence all over the net, one priceless piece in the Guardian with a transcript of a journalist briefing and comments about never being relegated, he's forgotten he took Luton down. Your chairman seems to have a penchant for barrow boys.

To be pedantic, he's not my chairman as I'm a Yeovil fan commenting on the thread.

But having just googled for some of that evidence, it doesn't take long to dig up. His claim that he had nothing to do with United's relegation last time he was there is laughable; I don't suppose his five wins in 26 games could be blamed at all.

Off to read up some more now.

I know I'm an Evertonian hanging around the Newcastle section, but I'm really intrigued by the Kinnear story, even more so since there's nothing coming out of NUFC to confirm. Bizarre.

Christ, listen to his interview on TalkSport if you get a chance. The only player's name he gets right is Perch, and he reckons he brought Krul to the club!

According to a TalkSport interview last night, Kinnear thinks he's smarter than the fans. Whilst talking about players Ben Afra (sic) and Yohann Kebab (sic)

Forgive the Wail link but transcript here:

Crazier than a coconut.

You know what, I think he mis-pronounces the Newcastle names deliberately. In that interview he reals off a whole list of Wimbledon players and doesn't make a single mistake.

This is the weirdest football story I can remember. Strikes me Joe is off his head, but the silence from NUFC suggests there's some truth in it all, however I am sure they will backtrack in the light of his comments on the radio last night. My theory is that this may have been an attempt to get Pardew to resign, or at least come to the table to negotiate his exit, that's the only way it makes any sense at all.

My dad is of the same opinion. He thinks that signing Kinnear has been done purely to piss Pardew off and get him to walk. With Pardew gone, he'll look to bring in a new manager, possibly Gus Poyet.

Kinnear has shot out of the blocks in an attempt to make himself look like a complete tt, how the hell can Newcastle United sit back and watch him shoot his mouth off?

Everybody at the club is under strict rules with regards to talking to the media, so how the hell has he not been sacked already? Christ, just look at the stuff he has said over the last 48 hours!

The guy comes across as a complete headcase....

Which, of course, he is.

I'm hoping this is all just a massive ploy to bin Pardew on the cheap. Not that I'm seeking his exit, but no-one could be so stupid as to put Kinnear in any form of power in a Premier League club. Again.
