Ah, I see.

That area is heading Cotswold-ish isn't it? Where the likes of Clarkson, Cameron etc live? No mention of what aircraft types yet but I guess it was a light aeroplane otherwise there would be much more hoo-ha if it was a passenger plane?

Booker Airfield would be the likely source/destination. I’ve known people learning to fly that used it.

yeah plus Helicopters generally don't fly that high to take out a commercial. And should stay out of restricted airspace for landings at airports etc.

It'll be out of Booker airfield there I would guess. (I've flown Helicopter out of there myself)

Small club based airfield. Real shame for those involved and their families.

Bit of flight radar research, and yes, this is very premature and speculative, but the chopper looks like G-JAMM. Out of booker, stopped at 1000 feet in the exact location at 12:02. No sign of other a/c, probably not transponder enabled.

Sad news, a few years ago I had a trial flight out of Wycombe airfield on a hot July day, the old boy instructing me took us over Waddesdon Manor, "because sometimes there's some totty lying around sunbathing".

Speculation, but it could've been someone just like me having a first go at light aircraft flying has ended in tragedy

Not at all. It can be surprisingly easy to miss sight of another aircraft, particularly if fixated on something such as a navigation task or, dare I say it, taking photographs of a tourist attraction (I am not saying that was what happened here). Add factors like sun glare and there are lots of chances to clout into somebody.

PS: I suspect that you mean VMC, not VFR.

VFR are a set of flight rules, VMC describes weather conditions suitable for visual flying.
