So what qualifies as a good plate then? I thought VZ 8888 might be for the fact that it relates to the Vantage Zagato that it's on. Is it only smaller plates like this one that counts? Also I'm unsure how to reply to posts so I'm on a learning curve at the minute smile
It’s a matter of opinion a lot of the time. I thought VZ 8888 is lovely. Some may not.

Ignore those who don’t like something, welcome to the thread. I think you’ve made a good start with your first contributions.
Agreed - subjective, for some people, a good plate has to be expensive, lots of numbers / a longer plate makes it cheaper, so they get critical - I have plates that are much shorter, yet mean nothing - probably more expensive, but less relevant - is one or the other better, no, of course not...

however, 'bad'plates are where they don't say what you want, even to the extent of having to explain them! if you can see what they mean then they are okay!

Done about 10k of those miles since 2007! Some years it’s done less than 1k miles.

Is it possible to find the history of the plate? I imagine it’s quite old and it intrigues me

A quick Google shows that Hampshire County Council issued AAA 1 in 1934, there are quite a few number plate "beards" here (meant in the nicest possible way!!), who I'm sure will fill you in on it's journey since when they see this.

No idea where they find the information but it makes interesting reading.

Nice lurking btw!!

very few posts
= read a lot, not write a lot = lurking smile

not really relevant to anything as some of the most prolific posters on here post a constant stream of tosh, while some of those who post less post interesting content wink

Probably the best plate I ever saw was on a 2010 big red Dodge Ram pickup truck I converted to LPG, P11OCK, people laughed as you drove past.

Spotted on the M8 in Glasgow just before Xmas: 18 ROX on a blue Audi S5.

Correctly spaced, but the 1 looked more like an I.

Thought this would sit nice in this thread. Took this photo on a visit to the Patrick Collection in the 80's. 1 DOL is now showing as on a Range Rover.

and searching online revealed it has also been on a Daimler Dart

Spacing is a shame but I’d say it’s a good plate
