I bought one of the E-bay specials. It's the 12 ton one for £80. It's pretty sturdy.

Wow - this brings back memories.
Had a 2001 T-Sport pre-face-lift in Carbon Blue, and loved it. Cornered like it was on rails and it simply ate up roundabouts and B roads.
Owned it for 7 years over 70-140k miles and it never left me stranded apart from an aging battery which needed a jump to get me to Halfords.
I also found parts were a bit expensive at times. I'd join https://www.celica-club.co.uk as they were a helpful bunch there plus there were a few breakers as well when I was active about 5 years ago. Also in terms of parts - look out for BluePrint parts or resellers. Your local motor shop might sell these parts - brake discs, etc. You may find these parts cheaper than Toyota.
Yamaha engine with it's 8200 rpm limiter was a bit of a peach. One thing I would suggest is to google "toyota celica lift bolts" which should make the engine relatively bulletproof. The lift bolts are simply 2 small bolts which engage the 2nd cam profile but if they snap in-situ or when you try to remove them, it's a headache to get the pieces out so read-up before you tackle it. Replacement parts were about 50p (you need 2 of them) and the bolts are accessible from under the rocker cover and there were several revised versions. When I replaced mine (I chickened out and got a garage to do them for me), the bolts changed from a squared-off end, to a tapered end.

In Scotland for most of its life I think, but not near the sea at far as I know. You wouldn't believe how much salt they chuck on the road here. I don't take my bike out between November and April.tThe car was rusty but not rotten so as a shed it'll do fine :-)
