In the one in question, they charge 10% buyers premium and then 20% VAT on that charge. Therefore the full buyers premium is 12%. To get to the actual bid minus this full charge you therefore divide by 1.12.

This seems like real poverty pork! A 2.7 Boxster with 92k miles. Poverty spec though too. Alcantara seat centres, no air con or on-board computer. No reg number displayed so I can't check MoT and I didn't go to this auction. Somebody fitted later model lamps.

All the scuttle panels appear to missing, and it was in King's Lynn, but sold on 15th June for £2226! (As usual, they haven't included the VAT on the buyer's premium so it was actually £2251.20) Top bid would have been £2100.....

Had to have a google as to why the PH Sports Cars name rang a bell, and looking at the address it's where the Mrs had her MX5 from a few years back, did a lot of Cat C/D (as they were called at the time) rebuilds.

Aside from that, double din HU (don't know where the sub is) wouldn't put me off, nor would some LED bulbs, if the rest of the car was up to scratch. I'm not saying the rest of the car is up to scratch, but it does sound like it's had money spent where it matters. The hardtop alone is worth around £400 and could be offloaded later in the year.

wouldn't touch a car that had a ceramic IMS "upgrade" and my bet is the roof is knackered hence the hard top

My experience is having a hardtop ruins the roof. They are left folded for long periods and along the folds the roof material starts to fray and look different to the rest of the roof.

993 RS engine mounts now fitted to my Boxster as transmission mounts.

I've not been far yet, but the difference is dramatic, to say the least. 137k on the ones that came out but they didn't appear to have leaked or be particularly saggy. Easy to fit, and not that expensive.

That interior is far better than the usual black.

I'd love another Boxster again at some point but think I'd have to go as minimal risk as possible, if only rhr values would fall further for the gen 2 cars.

Clearly gen 2 cars are demanding a premium because people know the difference. I think some gen 1 prices look punchy. It seems anything second hand and interesting is expensive in general compared to 5 years ago. One of my mates reckons if you're car buying you either get the best available and pay lots or the cheapest available and expect to get what you pay for. The middle ground seems the most confusing because you're not sure if you're getting value based on what the car should or should not have had done to it. Too maybe variables to make an informed decision to an extent so it's still a punt.
