There's also a strong suggestion locally that the couple are siblings, not husband and wife.

Now that reporting restrictions have been lifted - for once the social media rumours were true about their relationship.

I can imagine that the social services are getting their details together pretty quickly on this pending a high profile investigation, but it seems that although they were on the radar, the family did not engage with any help that was offered by SS.

They are exceptionally bad crimes, which is why I thought it'd get a lot more national attention.

I guess the limited information and guilty pleas helped reduce that prospect.

I suspect there's more to the whole case, huge mistakes made by the authorities/etc, and either it's being suppressed or brushed over.

It’s been ‘covered’ in all mainstream papers/news - I think the mixture of it not going to trial but also the gravity of the offences, the incest aspect all against the backdrop of 4 survivors leads to it being a story that there isn’t a public appetite for.

A minimum of 35 years in the UK justice system is massive (Ian Huntley got 40), so there’s no doubt how the judiciary saw it.

I have said it before, and I’ll say it again. You need a licence for to drive a car, for a gun, for a fishing rod, even for a TV. Is it not about time we had a licence for children? Prove you are fit to be a parent or the child is removed at birth.

The difficulty with that sort of scheme is who decides who gets to breed.

I’m not saying it would be an easy thing to do, but surely somebody should have had a say in whether these sick fkers could breed?

Edit: maybe we could say, sure breed as much as you want, but you only get child allowance or any form of financial help if you were accepted first? That opens the risk that people will just keep knocking them out anyway though
