Excess Emissions Premium
Discussion
Starting to look for my next car, and one of the strong contenders would be from Subaru.
Looking at their website came across this article https://www.subaru.co.uk/article/11668/excess-emis...
Not seen anything yet on other manufacturer dealer websites but it's clear Subaru are saying that prices will increase Jan 2020 due to this EU regulation.
95 euro for every g/km CO2 over the fleet average target of 95 g/km.
So for 163 g/km that is over 6460 euro or just shy of £5.5k
Is that how this thing works, or? Subaru reckon it will apply for sales in EU and UK after Brexit from Jan 1 2020.
If it does result in increases like this it will clearly alter my shortlist considerably, for example Didn't place any importance on emissions / fuel consumption as it would be a relatively low mileage vehicle.
Furthermore as Subaru falls into the niche category, <300k units sold across EU then a different, unspecified, calculation applies. What's that then, anyone know?
