Don’t want to put a dampener on this thread but need somewhere to chat:

Charles was 16weeks on Saturday, has been doing brilliant and had no concerns. When bathing him this pm noticed a rash on both his knees that did not disappear with the glass pressing test. He is otherwise well and happy but now sat in a&e carpark whilst my partner is getting him looked at. Absolutely petrified of meningitis. Plus I can’t go in because of this fking COVID which I can understand but is hard.. Also it’s my mother in laws funeral tomorrow. All a bit st

Could just be foot and mouth. Quite common in small people.

Sorry to hear that, I hope it's something minor and the little dude is home asap.

Thanks, me too. He is apparently fine in himself and all observations normal. Likely will need bloods

Everything normal including bloods. Docs a bit stumped. Sent home to monitor. He is normal in his self and fast asleep now.

For any expectant dads out there, it’s amazing the bond that you can form, I could never understand it before but the idea of him being ill was heart breaking!

Hope everything's ok for your little one. I'm slightly worried about mine too - I started to have a high temperature last night and felt generally rubbish... I've been told to stay off work for a week so we're all isolating at the moment just in case. I wouldn't want to pass anything on, but hopefully it's nothing serious and we'll all be ok. We've got a fancy Braun thermometer for baby, hence knowing my temperature was high, luckily mum and baby are fine at the moment. I'm one of those people who hardly ever feels under the weather, so it came as a bit of a surprise yesterday!

We’re now at 25wks, anomaly scans were clear and our little boy is doing really well, albeit a bit big against what they think he should be.

Felt him kick a few weeks ago for the first time and now he’s got a bit of a routine going so can pretty much guarantee when he’s kicking off, very weird seeing her belly move when he’s on one.

Only 13-15 weeks left and he’ll be here!!

Really having difficulty with bed time now.

She appears completely terrified at the prospect of going to bed to the point that she still won’t get in it on her own unless she’s already asleep. Can’t leave her awake in bed without her just getting up and opening the door. All this at 2 1/4!

Advice welcome - it’s 2.30am and she woke up at midnight and I can’t get her back in bed.

One of those things I thought I'd grown out of as I'd consigned myself to not bothering with any kids after my last relationship broke down and I wasn't even upset about it, loads of disposable cash, solely 2 seater cars and extravagant holidays isn't exactly a hardship.

I'm 12 days into fatherhood and can't imagine anything different. Never really believed people when they said your perspective changes.

I do need to buy a car with more than 2 seats though!

Morning dads,

How are you all finding lockdown? Certainly nice to spend time in the house with the ladies in my life. Mine was 8 months yesterday, it only seems 10 or so pages ago i came on here with the news we were expecting let alone getting 8 months into her life!

Does anyone have any concerns about separation anxiety for their children post lock down? Its bad timing for us as our daughter will be starting nursery in July and we want to make sure that by that time she's had a day away from us at grandparents or something so she isn't reliant on us. It's even more heightened now that we're with her 24/7 with no one being able to pick her up or look after her for a few hours.

I know there was a dad on here but i can't remember his username who tried the Lucky Wolfe Sleep Solution. Just wanted to see how he's got on with it. Ours is sleeping solidly from 7-6 every night now it's changed our lives a bit & given us some freedom and normality at nights.

usually nurseries require a few odd days here and there 'settling in' before starting with the normal routine. Maybe you could push the proper start date back to allow for that, rather than just go straight into however many days a week?

for us, it's been nice seeing the kids enjoying being around us more but it's made us see how people can lull themselves into thinking it's better for the kids to be at home and not go to nursery at all, but it's definitely made me realise how important socialisation is to them, and how much respite is to us!

That might've been me! We've been doing the napping routine through the day with our daughter. She doesn't sleep unless mum's in bed with her at the moment. However regular naps through the day have worked a treat for her. She's really happy all the time. Same routine for bed time, Mrs GPM and Mini GPM go to bed about 7, once Mini is settled and sleeping Mrs sneaks out and can usually get away with it so we have some 'us' time on the sofa. Mini GPM's just been through leap 5 by the looks of the Wonder Weeks book and is currently a bit more fussy of a night time so no 'us' time for a little while now. She's 6 and a half months old now. We tried putting her in her cot and doing the 'stay and comfort' thing one night last week but it didn't work. She screamed the place down for two hours so we reverted to the usual routine and she was out like a light. We'll try again in a couple of weeks...

Co-sleeping is pretty common in many countries. We did it for both of ours. "Cry it out", phased withdrawal - none of it worked. It's seems a bit taboo in the UK but it's very practical and if everyone gets better sleep...

i might look into that. We've been looking at sleep consultants as our number 2 is awake and ready for the day anytime between 4:45am - 5:30am, and is often waking or restless in the night too. We didn't realise just how spoilt we were with number 1 and she now sleeps brilliantly. Number 2 has never slept what i would call well (he used to be a fair bit worse than he is now, and not just when he was tiny), but i appreciate some have a far worse experience than us. I'll look into lucky wolfe!

Another semi co-sleeper here, she falls asleep in the "big bed", I carry her to her bed in her room, then at 3 or 4 in the morning she stomps back in and falls asleep, often without waking us up.

Some frown on it, but we all get sleep at the end of the day..

She also wants a trampoline, as there are 2 other kids she is friends with over fences, and the others yell at each other over the fences when bouncing on their trampolines.

The Lucy Wolfe book is quite good. We're not following it to the letter but it's definitely helped Mini GPM get more and better sleep.

Mrs and Mini GPM have always co-slept. I've not got a problem with that as I want the best for both of them, even if it means I don't get to sleep with Mrs GPM in the same bed for a bit, but we're both at the stage now where we feel something's got to change. Mini GPM isn't a tiny baby any more. She's really developing her own peronality and is much more active and mobile - to the point where she could easily wiggle around/roll over and fall off the bed. She needs her cot and we need our own time together. As I write this they're both napping in the room next door. It's nice and quiet so Mini GPM obviously wanted her lunch time snooze today!

We did try a bit of 'controlled crying' the night that the 'stay and comfort' method wasn't working. Mrs GPM was an absolute mess because Mini was crying so much. I took over for the 'controlled crying' part but I think it was just the wrong time. I'm up for trying it again but not for a a couple of weeks. Mrs GPM is too worried about letting her cry but I've no problem with it - as soon as I picked Mini up from the cot she was quiet straight away, so there wasn't anything actually wrong, she just didn't like the change. She's going to have to learn how to self soothe and sleep on her own one way or another though!

Try giving her a soother with some teething gel on it.
