Can anyone recommend a cheap bike maintenance stand? Just something I can stick on the lawn/patio to do some basic cleaning and maintenance?
Aldi had something this week in their Specials but no stock in our store.
The cheap-ish Amazon one I bought (near the top of this page, if you're running big boy pages) turns out to be ok. Not fantastic, but ok and enough for me. Needs a bit of tape around the bottom end of the clamp adjuster screw to stop scratches. The angle adjusting gear-teeth clamp unit (which seems to be a weak point on a lot of the cheapies - especially where the teeth are just held to the tubes by a roll pin) is pretty good; with an off-centre bike it does open up a little on the side away from the extra load, but then it clamps down harder on the loaded side, so no problems with slipping.Aldi had something this week in their Specials but no stock in our store.

Awesome. I f
king adore Hope, always have.
My new bike had as much orange anodised Hope kit as I could afford - however I went for RS4 hubs, and it seems they're quieter? Perhaps should be described as a "mildly peeved wasp"?
"Ah. Hope? Yes, I'd like a new rear hub please..."

"Certainly. Would Sir like Mildly Peeved Wasp, Angry Wasp, or would Sir perhaps like to upgrade to Nest Of Hornets On The Warpath spec?"

I'd love some Hope kit on my MTB, but sadly it looks like mid-range Shimano is the best I'll be getting for now...

I've been trying to justify some of these XT-8000 combination/touring pedals for ages, ordered yesterday and arrived this evening. Pretty happy with them, but seem frivolous as going on my old mountain bike which is now used for cycling with the kids and pulling the tag along.
The platform spd pedals are designed for use with spds at all times and are unusable when normal shows as the clip in the pedal protrudes and gets in the way.
These allow the use of flat or normal shoes on the non-spd side or you can clip in when you want to.
I have some on my commuter. I use the flat side for my daily 5k commute and the spd side if I’m going for a proper ride

Out of interest, what's the appeal of these over a full platform SPD...something like a nukeproof DH pedal?
What troc said, I can pop out with the kids without having to put cycling shoes on. I had a pair of M324s used for exactly this but I think they went with a previous bike. And I have some A530s on the gravel/commuter bike, spds for the ride into/out of London, then site boots on to get between sites on the flat side.

I tried some years ago and always found myself on the wrong side. I guess you get used to the. I had a pair of M324s used for exactly this but I think they went with a previous bike. Running a 32x 11-42T setup I was struggling on some of the very steep climbs, of which there are many in my local area.
Decided to replace the Cassette with this SunRace 11-46T.
Whilst I was taking the old one off last night I checked the bearings in my Hope Pro 2. That resulted in a full strip down of the hub and free hub and ordering of a bearing kit. One of the free hub bearings was completely shot, seal missing and bits of metal/bearings missing/ floating loose. It was surprisingly still fairly smooth despite this.
