I think it is if the person doing the criticism is a Trump supporter. Other than that, yes I agree. Biden can be criticised as much as any one. There are a few of his policies that I don't agree with (I can't think of any behaviours or personal traits but possibly there are)Chester35 said:
As you know, I have been beating on about senate Georgia elections and now dear old Donald has decided to back track on his self centered Georgia scam to finally put the GOP before himself and say that his supporters should vote for that and not boycott it.
He's flip flopping more and more over time as trying to juggle an ever increasing number of things to juggle.
Last one was the $2t bailout he walked away from, then said he would go bigly.

I've decided to retire my Gandahar account as an incentive for Trump to retire
Now why would anyone need multiple accounts...

Forget it. The people on here will not allow any criticism of Biden. Any form of dissent or disagreement means, in their eyes you MUST be a Trump supporter. There can be no other option. No consideration that you can dislike either and think America deserves better.I am starting to think of them as "Biden Ultras". They certainly act like that

I think Biden will get criticized if he deserves it. At the moment, there is bound to be a 'honeymoon' period, granted. We are, after all, moving on from the worst president in history, so there is something of an 'end of term' atmosphere at present. I am starting to think of them as "Biden Ultras". They certainly act like that

Exactly, just post up something that backs your assertion that isn’t from some frother site and you’ll be heard.Biden will come in for lots of criticism and it will be justified. He won’t get everything right and will make some decisions that will be questionable and ill judged and he’ll be rightfully taken to task on it but if you come in and simply say Biden bad for no other reason that he’s not your cup of tea then expect to be called out on why you think so and to back it up. Is that not so unreasonable?

Wait, so Scottish, Welsh, English doesn't count. Then there are people who prefer to be called Cornish rather than English. In Northern Ireland, for some "British" is perjorative. There is football, with a Northern Irish team, but Rugby with an all Ireland team, without the slightest hiff of Republicanism.
Perhaps the reason why particularly Irish Americans, Italian Americans and Polish Americans self identify is that in recent American history, they were pretty despised at time (to be called Polak is not a term of endearment). Other diaspora are less likely to self identify with their national roots. I think its because of Catholicism. All three countries are quite strongly Catholic. American society is quite strongly Protestant; the Pilgrims were essentially religious extremists who felt England wasn't sufficiently Protestant.
In most of the UK, these days, we are quite oblivious to sectarianism, but it lives and breaths in Northern Ireland and in parts of Scotland. Sectarian viewpoints are more commonplace in the US, especially in the South (the Ulster-Scots influence I suppose). People will be very friendly, and will be friendly to Catholics, but will be open in their belief that all Catholics are going straight to hell. Bob Jones was very influential in the development of Evangelism in the US; it really became big in the mid-1920s, during a time of economic depression and following the Scopes trial, where people were genuinely worried about the secularisation of education. He set up his own religious university, the Bob Jones Univiersity. Bob Jones identified with Fundamentalist Evangelism, of which Ian Paisley was an adherant. The University put the Dr into Ian Paisley while he was locked up in the 60s for civil disobedience. Bob Jones's son, imaginatively named Bob Jones Jr, shared the same view as his pop, namely the Pope is the Antichrist, and the Catholic creed is a satanic creed. This sort of view, since the 1920s, has become prevalent in the Southern states. Little wonder, Catholic diaspora don't really want to embrace this bit of American culture.

Well said.
White supremacy in America really means white PROTESTANT supremacy.
In America, the fact that Biden is a Catholic will not have gone unoticed by certain white supremacist factions.

This...
+ copied from Redditt:
Right wing Christians whined and cried because someone dared to question how Amy Coney Barrett’s faith would impact her decision making. Now, right wing groups are attacking senate candidate Raphael Warnock for sermons he preached as a black minister. This time they are silent. Double standard.
The double standard here is glaring.
They told us we were persecuting ACB for her faith.
They told us religious beliefs are off limits.
They cried victim.
Now, however, they are perfectly content to blast Raphael Warnock down in Georgia for comments he has made as a black baptist minister.
Apparently you can’t question white republican women about their religion, but you can attack the black minister all you want.

Forget evidence... Just make coherent argument that is backed up by at least something...As I've said before, as a Biden fan I expect him to be criticised. I'll be the first to call out any bad behaviour.
Have any of the Trump, or "not" Trump supporters like williammp done the same for Trump over the last four years? If anyone shouldn't the fans be the harshest critics? Why are the Republicans immune to this.
As US president... or really any elected official, they should be subject to scrutiny, but such scrutiny should be based on reality... What they have said and done, not on conspiracy theory wibble.

Seriously? What a ridiculous comment. I haven't said anything of the kind. You need to realise that criticism of one person has nothing to do with approval or support for another. I'll give you fifty virtual internet beers if you can find one post where I've expressed support for Trump. I can't even remember doing so.
But seriously, this is now the Biden thread.
Time to grow up and get the f
k over Trump.Or post about Trump on the Trump thread if it's still around.

For me I hope Biden isn't a return to the old 'Team America, f
k Yeah' days of old. It is known that Biden was instrumental in pressing for war in Iraq. I read his comment that America is back at the head of the table.
Sigh.
Bully boy America is no good for the world.
I really, really hope he's not going to instigate renewed conflict.

I see the comment more as an announcement that the US is back as leading member of the international community that it walked out on under Trump He was not interested in international organisations and alliances, and was mainly interested in schmoozing fellow authoritarians. The US, having taken over from the UK as the Global hegemon after WW1, adopts the approach that Palmerston indicated for Britain : no permanent allies, no permanent enemies, but permanent interests. Biden will still do America First, but in a more team buildy way.
Trump unsettled the Middle East by his policies vis a vis Iran and Israel. His approach to China was also unsubtle. Trump made Putin see NATO as weak. The Baltic States wil be delighted that the US is back as leader of NATO. I have a friend who works at NATO HQ and she tells me that everyone there feels much more optimistic now that Trump is going
I was not inspired by Biden as a candidate. I like him more as President elect.
Reasons -
1. Biden is not Trump.
2. See 1.
3. Joking apart, Biden has
(a) long experience
(b) personal decency
(c) humility
(d) willingness to work as leader of a team selected on merit as opposed to unswerving loyalty.
4. Biden knows the art of politics.
5. Biden is not Trump.
What is Trump, that I object to him? Trump is an agent of chaos, nationally and internationally. His Disaster Capitalist financial backers put him there to do chaos, just as they put Johnson in the UK to do chaos. Trump is a racist. Trump is a misogynist and he may possibly be a rapist. Trump is an enemy of the Enlightenment in all of its forms, political, social, and cultural. He promotes anti-science and panders to superstition (while himself having no beliefs save that he must win). Trump cheapens and tarnishes the institutions and customs of civil society and lawful government.
Biden might be boring. Boring may be good. Starmer is boring too. Bring on the boring.

If you look back to the start of the discussion about Dem candidates, noone put Biden as their preferred candidate, most had others who they thought would be better for the US, but it was also discussed why Biden would probably be selected.
As the safe pair of hands to replace trump
As acceptable to the voters as the complete opposite of trump and as an old white bloke (some of the US aren't ready yet for gay, black, women potus)
trump feared Biden, it's why he spent two years failing to dig up dirt and then manufacture dirt about him. It's why he was impeached.
trump enabled the white supremacists, of which there are a lot in the US and it appears some on here. As mentioned, they tried to suggest ACB was being attacked because of her Catholic faith, yet ignored trumps lack of, and Bidens faith, indeed attacking him for it.
A lot of the attacks will also be about his diverse team he's picking. Many aren't ready for non-old white rich people.
