For the cheapest model, the Essential?
Yep, already on the Dacia website. Cheapest 'nearly new' car on the market is £13k now (4k miles on it). Whoever bought a new one for £11k a few months back has done well

Would anyone have suggestions for winter tyres (or wheels and tyres) for their car?
It's not something I've really bothered with before, despite being pretty rural, because there's usually a couple of 4x4s on the drive when needed but this year my only other option is my Wrangler and MrsR refuses to drive it. I did fit winter steel wheels and tyres (from Germany I think) on a Fiat 500 a few years ago and was really impressed with the result.

Have look at tyrereviews.com, plenty of food for thought. I’m a big fan of Hankook Winter iCept RS2, not as dear as the really premium brands but still do very well in the German tests. The trade off is they do wear quicker than some others. It's not something I've really bothered with before, despite being pretty rural, because there's usually a couple of 4x4s on the drive when needed but this year my only other option is my Wrangler and MrsR refuses to drive it. Surely nobody buys a Dacia with the 65bhp SCe engine? Shame the prices have been creeping up over the last few months, but I guess all manufactures will be increasing prices now.
Imagine that fully laden with the Sce unit
That said the later derivatives of the tce 3 cylinder is fast becoming the do it all engine, 200nm torque out of it is quite impressive really and exactly what the early versions of the tce 90s were lacking.

Slightly less good news! Ordered mid-September, Throbber delivery has now been pushed back to the week before Xmas now. I'm bracing myself for not seeing it this side of New Year.
I know they are quoting 6 months for the Sandero, is this not the case with the Duster?
Got T boned today in the Duster. Driving down New Bham Rd by the Black Country Museum. It’s a dual carriageway with a 40 mph limit as built up area and turning points in the central reservation area to allow access from side roads. I was doing about 20 mph and slowing for upcoming lights. I passed a Corsa which was blocking the road going in the opposite direction (no cars) and waiting to join our side of the road. As I passed she drove into the side of me before I had gone by. Hell of a bang so I pulled over and waved her to the side of the road. I expected to see a huge amount of damage. This is what I found when I got out.

The Duster came out well. It appears she hit the wheel with the front of her Corsa and the Duster tore the front off the Corsa. A second earlier it would have destroyed the bodywork. The scratch on the bodywork has polished out completely. Tough cars these Dusters. She then wanted to deal without the insurance.
Sensible decision Mike.
Some drivers!
Glad you and the Duster are OK.
Still lovin mine more and more. Short journeys, long journeys, all great. 999cc greatness.
Pointless first year service booked in next week. At 9K- its a cabin filter.
Cabin filter in LIncolnshire! The cleanest air you can imagine!
Paid them a little bit more to change the oil.
Shes a keeper, thats for sure.

I stood my ground with the driver and her husband £500 to make it go away which they paid. New wheel £85 so some spare change. My view was that once you call the insurance both sides pay for years after. I based it on a new dealer wheel and paint repair plus a contingency for anything unseen. I also thought a little stupidity tax was required. It’s a tough little bugger. I think the chunky alloy and bulbous tyre wall saved the day. You can see the damaged impact bar on the Corsa.
Cheers Croyde and pp, I feared the worse too. She was a nice enough lady but I think lacked in confidence and ability. She initially tried to blame me which was soon corrected and she accepted I was already in my carriageway and under no obligation to stop dead to let her in. Her timing was off. I checked and she was insured and MOT ‘d but I did take pictures of her and the car just in case. My argument was that I was more than happy to call insurance as I couldn’t lose other than having to declare a claim which would potentially affect my future premiums even though insurers would claim to the contrary. The scratch polished out perfectly but after looking today there is a minuscule split where the plastic bends round into the wheel arch. A set of OEM mudflats will cure this though.
1 second earlier and she would have taken out my doors.

My word we’ve all been very quiet round here. I’ve finally replaced my front tyres after 22500 miles. They weren’t quite on the wear markers but I could feel they were needing a change. I searched online and a local to me place had a pair of part worn Continental M&S tyres with a slightly more aggressive tread pattern for £90 the pair fitted and balanced. They had 8mm on each and no damage or repairs so I did something I’ve never done before and used part worn. Greta would be proud. When it’s light tomorrow I’ll take a pick.
Very pleased with the wear rate on my Continentals though.

Sorry to hear about the accident Mike, I know that patch of road well and it's never the most straightforward - glad all ok and it looks like the Duster shrugged most of it off.
We were supposed to be off to France in our but travel restrictions have prevailed so it's business as usual everything performing as it should. One thing I've noticed in this grimy weather is the bigger wheel to arch gap means plenty of debris gets thrown up the side of the car, kind of adds to the looks.
I'm still debating fitting winters as I see a number of people have on here already, no doubt I'll be too late by the time any snow arrives . . .
Happy Christmas throbbing everyone

Happy Christmas everyone.
Nothing to report, just motoring perfection.
I had a free "service" last week at 10,000 miles. It was only the cabin filter so I paid them to do an oil and filter change anyway at £124.
Spoke to the salesman, they are out of stock.
Our E class Mercedes with silly 19 inch low profile wheels hit a pot hole the size of a pea, which took it out of action whilst the wheel was replaced for 2 weeks. The Duster has been used by my wife and has been performing perfectly.
The Duster thrives on pot-holes, the steel wheels are indestructible.
Picked up loads of XK bits the other day including various panels, carpets and 2 very heavy axles all at the same time, it swallowed it all up. 350 miles in a day easy.
Getting 450 miles to a tank now. MPG drops off to 40 mpg if average speeds are over 80mph, as you would expect from such a tall vehicle.
All good.
