Julessy's Hyundai i20N + Previous Car History
Discussion
Refreshing to read stuff like this as i feel some of these 'run-out' hot hatches are painfully overrated and especially if you've been lucky enough in the past to have had something that was genuinely special. I had the same 2 main complaints about the i20n i test drove, heavy steering and lacklustre engine. Glad they're out there though, probably possible to improve with mods.

Modern car issue a lot of the time. Far too capable to be fun, fake noise due to regulations, fake pop and bangs because scene points, electric steering with fake weight/"feel" etc etc..
I feel like a Luddite, but I'll stick with 90's and earlier.. Even for the daily!
Unfortunately I’m not brave enough to daily anything pre 00s. I value modern crash safety and modern creature comforts too much. I feel like a Luddite, but I'll stick with 90's and earlier.. Even for the daily!
To add a quick update whilst I’m here, I sold my i20N the other day and have just collected a MK8 Fiesta ST Performance Edition. After a 5 hour drive home I’m very pleased with it so far, hopefully it stays that way. Pictures will follow when I get a chance to take some ok ones in daylight.

Excellent! Let us know how the mk8 is.
Currently got a mk7 Fiesta but keep browsing classifieds as want something more modern and the mk7 is over 12 years old now.
So far so good. It does make a small clunking sound when parking, and I’ve heard people have had new steering racks fitted, just for it not fix the issue, but I’m not really worried about that as I’ve also heard on forums that people have just left the issue and it doesn’t actually affect anything it’s just slightly annoying. Other than that so far so good, it sounds great, pulls really well, it’s a really responsive engine. I’m still learning its handling characteristics but it feels way more alive than the Hyundai did. Having owned a MK7 ST in the past this feels like a worthy successor, combined with feeling quite lively, it’s also way more comfortable then both the Hyundai and the MK7 ST, it feels modern and the things you touch feel like a decent quality. Mine has about 68k on it and it seems to have held up well.
A quick picture I took of it this morning:
