On the spot fines planned for careless drivers
Discussion
BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13356057 report that the Govt propose to introduce on the spot fines for careless drivers, suggesting tailgating, undertaking and pulling out in front ...... responses on BBC breakfast, so far have been Middle Lane morons and more cops...... anything else?

This could go one of 2 ways, brilliantly, with stupid driving punished rather than the odd speed discression, or we could end up with nowhere to plead a case when the police get it frequently wrong as I'm sure it'll happen.
I'm hoping its the former and not the latter
I would hope the former, but am pretty certain it would end up as the latter.I'm hoping its the former and not the latter
Also careless driving isn't an open and shut case in the same way speeding is.

hesitation at roundabouts
indicators left on
not using indcators
pushing in
driving to close to car in front
middle lane hogging!
unneccesary use of fog lights
I really hope this proves to be a success...if I were a cop I'd fill my boots...
not that I haven't done most/all of the above mind...

Haven't we all been harping on about something like this for years on here - a solid attempt at creating equivalent enforcement to the obscene focus on so-called 'speeding'?
I've been saying for ages that if they really wanted to those of power could pedal the propaganda to make offences, such as those listed in the proposals, as rude and evil in everyone's minds as they have with breaking the speed limit.

The trouble is that a lot of these offences are subjective, and it's just another example of the insidious way the justice system is creeping towards guilty until proven innocent, and proving your innocence made all but impossible by system and financial constraints - unless you are super-rich.
