At about 6:20 on Saturday night I joined the A40 at Denham heading into town. As I joined the sliproad it was clear that the left hand lane was closed. A police car was parked up and had used cones to block the lane.

I joined the crawling traffic and as I was driving past the traffic car parked up on the hard shoulder I could see a police motorbike, police bmw estate and police land rover coming upto the A40 across the fields. Slightly further up the A40 there was a police diver standing at the back of a van sorting out his wet suit.

Just wondered if anyone knew what was going on? When I drove back at about 8 o'clock heading home all was quiet.

well, the grand union canal runs between the denham junction and the swakeleys roundabout, along with the river frays(iirc) and there are several gravel pits filled with water around there too....maybe they found a 'floater'......were they using the driveway to the guru wotsit place?

No, they were using a track just before that. I thought exactly the same as you must be a missing person or a floater. Just sparked my curiousity

maybe someone shot off the motorway and ended up in the field or someone gassed themselves in a motor down there, maybe a stolen car thats been dumped.....could even be that someone has found a body whilst out walking their dog, there's plenty of open space round there.....oh im such a happy soul!!! .....doesnt that 'just' come under thames valley as its just outside the hillingdon border? (the sign for the border of hillingdon is only at the bridge over the canal iirc)

I did manage to find out what happened.

Sadly, a little boy went missing on his pedal bike and was found sometime later by Trafpol.........in the Canal.
