I know this may be old hat but I am bloody wound up about getting a NIP for 36 in a 30. Now this article http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/3381739.stm says that drivers in Wales only get NIP at 38mph and warning letters at 37 and below. Are we not part of the same governing law. If i committed the same offence in different parts of the country I would get different justice. Any help as to a protocol to "aleviate" my points would be welcome. (obviously I will trawl through previous posts , but anything that helps please ! )

Think you're out of luck. Basically each different police force decides at what level to set their trigger speeds at.

There are guidelines from the ACPO of +10%+2 (ie 35 in a 30) but they are only guidelines, the local force has discretion.

Probably depends basically on, what is the highest speed at which they can get the maximum number of paying customers they can process in the time available. As they take on more staff to do more processing, the trigger speed will fall.
