...apparently means the car doesn't exist, according to the copper who called me earlier. And thats that.

I enquired as to whether, just maybe, people who break into cars and vans for a living might elect not to USE A fkING NUMBER PLATE REGISTERED TO THEM.

Apparently no. it's impossible get false plates made up you see sir.

Oh, so why, when I reported this yesterday, was I informed there was already a logged incident involving that no plate that day?

Oh, well he doesn't know anything about that. not on his computer.

Useless fking donut stuffing waste of fking oxygen. Okay I know they're all to busy picking on people not wearing fking seat belets and too piss st scared to go near the gypo site the cars probably parked on right now, but at least fking try to look like you want to do your job and don't talk to me like I'm a fking moron. .

He offered me a crime no, I told him not to bother, he then indignantly informed me I'm supposed to go see my neighbour who witnessed the incident and give the plod more info, but is there really any point? I only called them this time as we had a reg no, generally I don't bother with the s.

So he told you the number plate was false, therefore they couldnt trace the car, and suggested that you ask your neighbour if they had seen anything which could be of help ?

Also what did they steal?

No. There's no such thing as false plates, apparently. I'm some kind of time waster or something, I think.

I had similar when a great big fat copper came to take my statement after I'd chased off 3 thieves and had jumped a 6' fence trying to get ahead of them using a shortcut.

He repeatedly asked how I tried to get ahead, I said "I jumped the fence" - pointing to it.

"But it's six foot"

"Yes"

Perhaps if you weren't 20 stone you'd understand this is NOT an impossibility you fat git.

Quite what it takes to join / stay in the Police I'm unsure but it sure as hell isn't much of a physical nor intellectual test judging by the ones I've encountered.

Pass on that website to the policeman! How he can say "there's no way of making false plates!?"

The appearance criteria must be pretty loose too.

I live Solihull and saw a woman being wrestled to the ground by 4 men.

All under 30, all skinheads in short sleeved shirts and at least two of them had full sleeve tattoos.

If I hadn't seen them jump out of 2 police cars I'd have called the Police !

I'm puzzled as to why the police should be 'picking' on people who are "scared" to go near a traveller's camp.

If you demonstrated the attitude and used the language you've used here when speaking to the call-taker, I'm not surprised the police are reluctant to deal with you like a rational adult.

For those among us for who need the "contents may be hot" on a muckdonaulds cup, I didn't actually use 17 fks when conversing with the police, and tried not to sound like a deliberate condescending prick when asking "well do you think maybe people who go round breaking into cars might use false plates?"

We've had an interesting result with some of our CCTV systems. We have worked on ways to record number plates on our systems. During the day it's not the hardest job in the world but at night it can prove more difficult. Anyway, rather than send the info to a computer database system to just store the number we record the actual footage (as per a standard CCTV system).

What has been interesting are the number of occasions where customers have been able to spot a plate that's been modified. Put the correct details into the police database and bingo. You often don't have to do much to alter the number plate significantly.

I'm guessing you didn't do well in "Comprehension" re read his post. It's the Police who as too scared to go onto a Gypsy site.

I've had this first hand too when we had a trailer stolen and could see it on a site.

Police refused to go in as IIRC "It might cause a public order offence"

What Police still fail to realise is that the majority of the public only meet them when reporting crime or being pulled over. I'm aware that in both of these we won't be meeting the best officers but as that is precisely who we judge the police by - perhaps that ought to change.

And if it takes a riot squad to get a stolen trailer back then so be it. No go zones ought to be challenged.

What are your exprectations of the police in this case, given that the only lead they appear to have is a vehicle registration number that doesn't exist.

There are not any no go zones. Prisons are over flowing with criminals from houses, flats and caravan sites. Individual officers may have fears the organisation doesn't and will do what's needed. As for officers who attend calls or stop people the vast majority do so with no issues. There are tens of thousands of interactions each day millions each year. Some will not go as people want. There are bound to be some complaints. In this case I note the police actually attended when called which seems to go against the consensus they never attend.

I have to agree with the earlier poster, having also.has a trailer stolen, seen where it went, and the police basically refuse to take any action, just because it was a 'travelers' site.

Ah well that must apply across the board clearly all the 'travellers' in custody as we speak or in prisons. Or the raids must be figments of my imagination.

It clearly does exist, unless my neighbour was on hallucinogenic drugs, it's just not a number currently on the DVLA database. Is it a cars legit identity or a totally false no plate? Either way there's some people here committing multiple crimes who need picking up, and would probably be a good hit, as we have witness to a crime plus tax, insurance offences, and who knows what else.

My expectations would be either to take it seriously and investigate further or tell me "sorry sir, not enough manpower for everything we've decided to fk your particular case off so can can properly sort other cases". I don't actually expect police to run round and do something- this is the 3rd time my vans been hit in 12 months- I'm way too experienced in crime to expect the police to actually do anything, the only reason I bothered reporting was because of the neighbours description/reg no.

But giving me such a half assed excuse and pretending it's a dead end like I'm a moron is just downright rude.
