Discussion
Haing just been "informed" that I was going 36mph in a 30mph limit, I have also been "informed" that if I contest the offence in court, I will be charged all court costs. Is this true, I thought the only fine I would get if found guilty was the mandatory one that comes with the offence? Any one got any info from prior experience?
Only if you are found Guilty. If Not Guilty you can apply (note apply) to have your costs awarded to you by Prosecution/Court from a Central Fund - they don't like doing it.
If Guilty you will be stung for:
Appearance of CPS Prosecutor which apparently varies depending which part of the Country you are dealt with.
This also applies on a Guilty plea. Fine plus CPS costs.
The Prosecutions "just and reasonable" costs.
Any costs incurred as a result of unneccessary or improper act or ommission.
Application may be made for these by CPS to the Court and Mags decide is valid.
