Not speed cameras this time...

Question for anyone in the know re traffic monitoring cameras on motorways - not the green/blue traffic master cameras, but the CCTV cameras up on poles.

Does anyone know if footage from these could be used to prosecute for dangerous driving? There were two car loads of lads (pair of Focuses) driving like utter wits in heavy traffic on the M1 at J6a earlier this evening (about 7:30pm). Both were weaving in and out of traffic, then both undertook a line of cars down the hard shoulder onto the M25 slip road before cutting back onto the M1 right across the face of traffic. All at (my estimate) 80-90mph. Caused a fair bit of havoc, as nobody had a clue what they were about to do.

Can the CCTV footage be used to spot reg numbers?

Makes my blood boil to think that I could get pinged at 36mph in the name of safety, yet these morons can dice with death at one of the busiest motorway junctions in the land and get away scot free. The recent posts about reduced traffic police on the motorways makes me fume even more.

Theyll never see the reg numbers from there. The best you could have done was to take the reg's and pass them to the plods....but i doubt anything would have been done anyway.
Thats the way it is today.

Seems so doesn't it. Sadly I was on my own and too busy avoiding the idiots to take their numbers.
