Hey guys...new here and needing advice. I am not looking for sympathy, because I know I f
ked up.
Long story short, was busted by two biker police doing 96 in a 50 zone. Silly I know, but what is done is done.
Doing my research I have discovered that I am looking at 6 points, £500 fine and possible ban.
I have been told I will be sent a Summons in the post within 6 to 8 weeks.
Anyone had any similar action against them, and if so what am I likely to get shafted with?

- EDIT* Ishould maybe add, that I have had a clean licence my entire life and have been driving for ten years. I doubt that will make much difference though. And I was in the Grampian area

It seems the Police and courts are handing out stiffer fines and punishment these days. I'd say a ban (which is probably what you are most worried about) is likely, however its possible to get a short one (like 28 days).
I'd suggest consulting a lawyer as in the long run, it might be cheaper than a years worth of taxi's

Unfortunately I'd say it was a DEFINITE ban at that speed.You were well over the limit.
As you say though, it's done now.
All you can do is beg, and show how sorry you are when you get to court.
I got caught doing 80 something in a 50. Obviously you were going (quite) a bit quicker, but the guy who pulled me over told me it should have been 6 points + court (possible ban), but thanks to discretion was just 3 points and £60.
Best of luck, though I'd be amazed if you didn't get a ban.

I was pulled over for doing 120mph on the motorway but was let off. Basically the roads were clear and I got carried away behind an audi. I didn't notice any police and I then came into the average speed check and noticed a police van behind me.
I had a bad vibe so indicated to go into the middle lane, and then they indicated.
I remember saying to my girlfriend I think they were going to pull me over, but I wouldn't know until the hardshoulder came.
Roadworks end and hardshoulder comes and queue flashing lights.
I actually thought I was going to cry when I saw the flashing lights and the signalling to pull over.
Honestly, I felt physically sick and it didn't feel real.
They done the usual, have you any idea why we pulled you over, I said I had been travelling a little too fast just before the average speed check, he then mentioned what speed they had to do, and that I was facing a driving ban.
They asked me why I felt the need to speed, what my reason was etc, all I said was because I'm an idiot and had no excuse.
After a long chat, they decided to let me off, they said they had two options, take me to court and waste time and tax payers money, or that this incident would teach me a lesson and stop me from speeding in the future.
Although after reading I think it was more to do with the fact they didn't have proof of my speed, and their speedo would have needed to be calibrated and following me for a certain amount of time.
I'm sure had it been police with a lazer gun, they would not have let me off.
They mentioned that they had to do well over 100mph to catch up with me, and obviously lectured me on my speed.
It was definitely a wake up call, and I won't forget what one of the officers said to me "The next time you get pulled over for speeding, you WILL get banned, and I will testify myself in court"
Honestly we all speed, they even said they wouldn't bat an eyelid if I was at 80-85mph.
But you just need to know not to take the piss.

Yeah I know the feeling, what you need to do though is make sure you stick to it.I'll be honest, when I've been done by a camera, or pulled over I always feel bad and tone down, but I'd normally get over the stage and back to my usual ways.
The only incident that actually made me change my driving was being stopped and the fear I went through up until I was free to just get back into my car and drive off.

Don't need proof of speed, just their statements saying you were doing x speed. Then it's up to the magistrate. It's the same with any ticket or summons, much in the same way a mobile phone ticket evidence is a statement saying they saw you do it rather than any physical proofYou can't change the past, but you just need to make sure this teaches you a lesson and you tone it down.
We all change at some point, it just takes different things to make us change.
I can no longer plead ignorance, as the officer mentioned he was putting a marker on me for speeding, so it's not as though I can say it's out of character etc.
I won't lecture you for speeding, we all do and some speeding is fine in my opinon (although I'll no doubt get flamed), I mean like 80mph a clear motorway. But excessive speeding isn't worth it, at best you face points and ban, at worst you face a serious accident if something goes wrong.
What I found when I used to drive "fast" was people had no idea what speed you'd be travelling at, and would just pull out, we all think "it won't happen to us" but it does.
No one ever thinks they'll get pulled over when speeding, and we all assume we'll get back home in one peice.
Look on the bright side, at least you were pulled over by police, rather than pulled out your car by fireman

Ah ok fair enough, although they didn't have any direct proof of speed I was travelling at, they had seen or rather heard me fly past them, and had to do over 100mph to catch me up.I do feel had it been an officer with a lazer gun, I would have lost my licence.
Either way I was very lucky, and from that point onwards I have never even gotten near that speed, and won't again.
