If a car is not being driven on a public road (e.g. parked on private land) is it legal to attach a "show plate" not assigned to it? I wanted to take some snaps and was wondering where the law stands on this? Thanks ...

Yeah it's fine I would have thought as it isn't on a public road. Many of the cars shows I go to people put American style show plates on their cars. Just don't forget to take them off before you drive home.

Just bear in mind that if the show plate is of a VRM and that is not owned by yourself you should not publish photos without removing/covering the number plate. The owner of the 'real' plate may get upset. If you are talking about a plate saying 'car type' or similar ignore what I have written.

While good practice & manners, I don't believe there's any law against this...
