I've just got up and had a read through SPL after finishing late last night. I've read some fairly negative posts (not necessarily unfounded) about BiB. I should have finished at 2.00am, but instead, finished at 5.00am. Here's why:

Parked up in the unmarked, video equipped, traffic car, near to a supermarket known to be used by the local Chavs in their Novas*.

All of a sudden, I hear a lot of screeching tyres, and a newish car peels off the petrol station at warp 8. I turn around to follow, and am instantly clocked by the driver - who is very distinctive in his "gold" "jewellery" (the full "Lizzie Duke" and "sovs" hit). Said driver then tries to do one on me, and I lose sight of him briefly down a side street. Not many seconds later, I pull up behind his stopped vehicle. He's swapped places with his female passenger, who is now in the driving seat.

I invite the young funster into the rear of my vehicle, and would you believe it, some paperwork had fallen over the video monitor so that he couldn't see it from where he was. He reeks of ale, but is of course denying driving. I bag him, and he's just under. I run his details through PNC, and he comes back "No trace"...

Now call me cynical (or experienced), but I'm not having that. But then the lad produces some bank cards with the name given on them. "OK, sign here on the HO/RT 1, then", and he does... only the signature doesn't match the one on the bank cards he claims are his (it's not rocket science, is it?)

"Well you're locked up for failing to produce your insurance to me, under S25 PACE. That, of course, and the fact that you've got a fraudulent tax disc..."

We arrive at the custody suite (yes, there IS room at the Inn...), and lo and behold, the lad has given me false details, not only because he's disqualified, but he's also wanted x 4 on PNC around the country.

Fortunately his gurning mug was captured up close and personal on video - not just the in-car, but also on the CCTV from the petrol station he'd just nicked the fags from...

Are my fellow PHers happy with my nights work (accepting of course that I'll get paid extra tax payer's money for finishing late)?

* It always amuses me that "Nova" is Spanish for "Doesn't go"...

Absolutely delighted to hear of good work like this. I'd just like to make an observation, that trained police officers were responsible for getting this lowlife into custody, not the bods at the local scameraship office.

By the time I got home it was light enough and warm enough to enjoy the paper and a couple of cans of Stella and a G&T in the garden.

Now THAT's a warm glow...

I don't think many of the PH'ers are hacked off with BiB, so much as scammers and a general "going to the dogs" of the country.

We need to seperate BiB from scammers before the big backlash!

Roll on election day, I'm looking forward to kicking twatlugs

Unfortunately we sometimes have to take the LTI out and use it.

Although we have to actualy point and shoot, then stop, then decide what "Punishment" to mete out, so not as black and white as you might get with a GATSO.

And of course a PH sticker helps you make that decision easier.

Nice work sir!

As has been said before, we (royal) don't so much rail against the BiB as the system you are forced to work under/with.

Frankly I don't give a monkeys how Chavved up the guy was, tax avoidance is a crime against lawful drivers.

Good work, but honesty does anyone think that hes going to get anywhere near the punishment he deserves, most likey a slap on the wrist and 2 weeks later he will have nicked enough stuff to buy another dodgey mot failure to drive illegaly.

Although i would like to be proven wrong let us know what he gets

Seems like good ole fashion coppering aint dead after all.

But nevertheless, if a GATSO had been erected in the spot you were parked up, the guy would have gotten away scot free.

Similarly, how many of similar type scroats do get away scot free cos the coppers are in the process of stopping Mr and Mrs Normal for doing 55mph in a 50mph zone in their beige Rover 400.

'tis true they had to change the name of the Nova in Spanish speaking countries.

Like most posters here, I fully support front-line bobbies and have even served with them on our local Crime Action Team (goes up to inspector level)

What we have no time for is being lied to by so-called top cops and the creeps who skulk in vans nicking drivers who they can see perfectly well are causing no danger to anyone and who, in the pre-Gatso and Talivan days, would not have warranted a second glance.

Nice one! Let's hope the CPS and associated courts can follow on and lock him up for a while, rather than send him on holiday somewhere.
