FAO Any Scamera Operators On Here........
Discussion

Not saying the quote is correct but I was wondering how many of the Scamera (Sorry can't bring myself Safety) operators are advanced drivers (eg. IAM, ROSPA, RideDrive etc)?
If not, why not?
If you lot are that focused on road "safety" why haven't you taken additional training like a lot of us on here have, and why aren't you campaigning to make advanced training avaliable to everyone.

Errr. I am shocked. Exceeding the speed limit - even during an overtake - will fail you your IAM/ROSPA test under nearly all circumstances.
Clearly, on other days than test day, one might choose to make the maximum amount of safe progress afforded by the road, traffic, limit of visibility and stopping distances.
You'd be surprised how quick that can be...

Thats interesting. Never heard of that before. (Worth noting as i'm planning to do an IAM course this summer to complement the RideDrive course I did last year)

Don't let it put you off. You can have plenty of fun under the speed limit. And remember - everything you practice and learn applies well above it too...its just you'll have to practice that part by yourself.
The IAM or ROSPA simply cannot advocate breaking the law, whether or not individual members consider any particular speed limit inappropriate. They'd be shut down in a heartbeat if they did.
That and its a discipline to be able to show you can drive to a limit whilst also keeping up full, top-quality observation and demonstrating a high degree of finesse at car control.
