The driver who T-boned me, causing this:-http://www.copart.co.uk/c2/individualLot.html?lotId=20330501&searchType=onSaleNow

was offered a driver 'Alertness course'!!!

He hit the back of a stationary Golf, pushing it into a Micra waiting to turn right across me, I braked and chucked the car onto the grass on my left but he followed me, hit my driver's side and rolled my car 3 times....confused

He ended up 200 yards down the road!

Link doesn't work. I'm intrigued as to how he hit you a number of times, rolled your car and ended up 200 yards away. And you're both still alive.

Who says it was meant to be a punnishment? I suspect the idea is that it stops him from doing it again, which is surely the important thing? Although I dobut these courses achieve very much, in practice.

Don't know why the link doesn't work - does if you copy and paste in Google...

He hit me that hard the car rolled 3 times. I don't know exactly what happened after the collision as the airbags came down and we were tossed about like rag dolls. Where he ended up shows the speed he hit us at after he'd hit another car, pushing it into the one in front!

If I'd done what he did, I'd expect at least a year's ban.

Do you want him to be punished? Educated? Or do you just want compensation for your wrecked car?

Looks to have stood up well which is lucky for you.

It all depends if he feels remorse for what he caused and his driving style changes as a result. Still seems a little lenient. Any points?

My opinion is if you have an accident that was your fault and hit more than 2 cars, some bonus clause should be activated in the law so that you get some extra points/lenght of ban is extended hehe

Oh, I've got the new car, they paid up straight away.smile

I do, however, have extremely painful arms and hands from the side whiplash which may take until next year to clear up. I'm 72 next, so time is very precious.yes

Perhaps the sarcastic posters on here may like a taste of it, I had to be spoon-fed for the first 2 weeks.

No points!

Personally - Compensation for damage / injuries first, then punished, then educated.

Mnkiboy, I believe the only reason we're still alive is because it was an Audi.

All the emergency services who attended thought it was a fatal accident. As it was, my wife and the dog were unscathed, but it took the fire brigade an hour and a half to get me out through the back hatch on a spinal board. (The car was on it's roof.)

The traffic cops all want an A3 as their next car!laugh

Presumably the guy wasn't driving dangerously, he just made a mistake?

I never got to meet him, but from the gist of what the bibs were saying, he said he never saw the stationary cars. The only sight and noise I got of his car, in the split-second before he hit me, was that it was accelerating out of control, as if his foot was on the throttle. Probably the after-shock of hitting the Golf. If he'd still been in control, he had room to stay on the road and pass behind me, as my car was totally on the grass. If he hadn't pushed it on to the tarmac of the side road, it probably would have slid further and stayed on it's wheels.

Yep, works ok.

So the micra was turning into Fenrother Lane?

You rolled three times, and he had already hot another car! How fast was he going?

Yes, it was.

The speed the accident happened everything was a blur, but he was fcensoredg moving! It was a Rover 75, and he and his wife were totally uninjured, with the lady Golf driver having whiplash.

Where did he actually crash in to your car?

Just curious as there doesn't seem to be any area of impact that would suggest high speeds are involved.

Why do you think you would be more harshly treated if you had done the same?
