Bit ashamed to admit this, but I think my watch was stolen by a malignant Cab driver last night as I got home rather the worse for wear. Can't remember a thing, and other items were taken inc. my debit card (which has already been used this morning).
haven't gone to the police yet. What are my options here?

If you can't remember a thing, how do you think it was the Cab Driver ? If you don't know don't look for the most convenient person to accusehaven't gone to the police yet. What are my options here?

What people forget is the C
" Malignant" Cab Drivers have to put up with from passengers p
out of their heads. At the end of the day they are out there trying to earn a living If the card had been used then it is a criminal offence and needs to be reported immediately.

Unfortunately it's the most plausible hypothesis. I was put on a cab by colleagues at 1ish, and my flatmate heard me get in at 1.30 ish. Not much else could have happened in between...What people forget is the C

Of course i will be honest with the police and say i don't remember anything, don't want to waste anyone's time or get someone innocent in trouble!

Feel free to stop contributing to this thread if you have nothing useful to say.
I told you to go to the Police, which turns out is advice you'd already taken without my knowledge. So, pretty useful advice, I'd say. And not even a thankyou. Honestly, some people. Feel free to stop contributing to this thread if you have nothing useful to say.

Watch ebay and take a tour of the local pawn shops. Perhaps within a 30 mile radius. Pawn shops do not always sell stuff that they take in. They move stock around between themselves to avoid the trouble associated with return customers wanting their stuff back.
On no account tell them that you are looking for a stolen watch. If they know there's a stolen watch about, then they won't take it in, and your chances of recovery are zero. Perhaps a discrete "I'm looking for a nice watch, somthing on a leather band." Let them offer to call you, don't suggest it.
I once recovered a stolen pushbike in this manner. Arranged to inspect the bike, went "to the cashpoint" and returned with a couple of constables. Police were more than happy to help.
If the credit card had been used, I'd want details of the trader from the bank. I'd contact them, explain what has happened and ask if goods have been ordered for delivery. Where there is a delivery address...
OK, this is doing the police's work for them, but hey, at least you're trying.

If you still have the reciept for your watch or the box it came in with its id code on you should report it stolen and it will then go on a data base so if said scumbag tries to off load it at jewlers or pawn shop it will come up as stolen and you should get it back with the thief being arrested as well
