Finally, one week short of the 6 month period, my summons arrives. I'm charged at doing 88.05 in 60 zone (an SP60) by an unmarked car with a Police Pilot.

The lovely summons is giving me the chance to plead guilty by post, in court or plead not guilty. I'm tempted to just roll over and plead guilty by post but I'm after some advice on this area.

If I go plead guilty by post, I guess I'm looking at 6 points plus a means related fine, what are the chances of going to court and receiving something a little less severe?

Also what's the view on returning or not returning the statement of income? Should I or shouldn't I?

Many thanks

Ah so ... 88 in a 60 (2 over the ACPO GL for Conditional Offer) so it gives the Mags, should they so decide the opportunity of a Disqualification......

Replying by post together with a statement of contrition, and if they deal with it then no Disq. If they don't deal then an adjournment and you will be called to face them personally and if this is the case then they ARE considering a ban??????.

If you have time on your hands then go to Court and see how the system works. Pleading Guilty with sack cloth and ashes sure to earn a few brownie points but not many as they seem to work to a fixed schedule and reading similar court cases in your local rag may give you some idea. Pleading Not Guilty unless you have good grounds doesn't appeal to them on the Bench and may be reflected in the penalty.

Return the financial enquiry statement - it gives them an idea how much to hit the pocket for (but see comments in para above). Failure to do so may just prolong the agony as they may adjourn until they get the info.
