Hidden speed cameras.
Discussion
Sorry if this thread has been done already but...
Are there any rules or guidlines about making speed cameras visible? I know most are well highlighted nowadays - however -
Lateley I have noticed a couple of cameras, hidden behind the first, large 30mph signs on A roads where national speed limit has just ceased.
This is irritating, as I always keep to 30 through towns and villages, but occasionally will still be coasting / enginebraking at about 40 as I pass the signs - if appropriate. Haven't actually caught me out - yet, as roadmarkings are a givaway - but roadmarkings are getting smaller and fewer with newer camera installations. Can't be good for saftey - people locking up as they glance sideways at the camera, surely. Can only be a fundraising excersise.
Also, I thought that all cameras where highlighted in flourescent nowadays, but found 2 in matt green, hidden begind bushes in Walton on Thames. And these little video 'average speed' cameras above the M6 on the viaduct roadworks, with little orange hankeys waving behind them, easy enough to work out - but I bet they got enough people when the first went in.
I thought cameras helped by highlighting blackspots etc... I am in favour of cameras in the right place but
Whats the deal???
Am I within my rights to paint over their lenses, or gaffer tape a grenade to them?????
Will anyone here represent me when I get caught doing this?????????
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
