Apparently it's not a joke.
A force in the Midlands (IIRC) has recruited a one-legged policeman ... because they (a) have to under EU anti-discrimination law, and (b) because they want to represent a "true cross-section of the community they serve".
So, when will they start recruiting OAPs and babies? Other representatives of the visually, aurally, physically and mentally impaired? Oh, and criminals?
Of course, there are those who would argue that some of these groups are already well-represented in the force
