I wrote to the Scamship that covers the Somerset area, asking for details of how many motorists were convicted of a speeding offence in their area for 02/03 and 03/04.
They replied by email today, as quoted below:

Thank you for your communication dated 17th June 2004.

The information you requested is issued annually by the Home Office.

You must appreciate that not all offences are dealt with by the Safety
Camera Partnership and where offences related to high end speeding, then
this is a matter for the courts.

It wasn't signed, just THINK! grrrrrrr
Does this mean that the official figures issued for each partnerships area DO NOT include all those that choose to ignore or contest the NIP but pay up after receiving the summons and those who go to court and are found guilty?
So all those offences would not be included in the revenue figures for that county even though they had been caught by their scameras?

I'm sure the real revenue raised is many times greater than what they tell us, I'm just trying to look into the ways they prune the figures without actually lying.
