New challenge over anti-speeding policy

22 Jun, 2004, 15:15

A new pressure group has been set up to challenge the anti-speeding policies of the North Wales Chief Constable Richard Brunstrom.

A dozen local businessmen have formed " People for Proper Policing" or "PPP", claiming Mr Brunstrom is putting too much emphasis on speed cameras rather than concentrating on tackling serious crime.

But Malcolm King, chairman of North Wales Police Authority, is strongly defending the Chief Constable, saying he finds it bizarre that Mr Brunstrom is being criticised for saving lives.
