I imagine the Crown is exempt...

You have to tell the Electoral Registration people if you don't want your name & address included in the published register.

Don't forget the registers always were publically available.

catch 22 i'm afraid. If you want a transparent electoral system then there has to be a publically available list of all those who are able to vote. The real issue here is the ease with which this information can be accessed. 20 years ago you would have had access to the entire electoral role but i wouldn't fancy going through all the regional public records to find out where someone you new 20 years ago might have moved to.
