Whats the position if one of these goes off as your driving towards the lens, rather than from behind it, where they normally get you.

The section of road in question had two lanes running each direction, with no central reservation, and gato white road markings across all 4 lanes in the centre of each lane?

i read somewhere that you cant be done by a gatso while heading towards it,
could be urban myth though

Look for strips of white paint on the road/lanes. If you are roughly perpendicular with the camera face (i.e. the lens is pointing toward you) as your car passes over the lines, then that lane is being monitored. Newer cameras can be turned around to cover either direction, on traffic moving towards or away from it.

I've seen many NIPs with the corroborating photo showing the car driving towards it.

Cheers for the answers...

The camera isnt one of those which rotates and monitors the opposite carriageway, as that type of camera can still only look one direction at a a time.
This camera is fixed in one direction and the lines are painted across all the 4 lanes (thereby *implying* that all the lanes are monitored). However, as others have said, I have not heard about them actually getting people facing towards the lens.

Looks like I will wait and see....

It maybe that motorists would speed past using all four lanes ie the ohter side of the road to avoid a ticket like when they also put them on the hard shoulders on motorways. Rememebr also a motorbike only has to have a rear no.plate

As far as I am aware, Gatso is not approved for approaching shots, but Truvelo is.

Theres a camera local to me that I tend to set off on an almost daily basis when going towards it! I'm yet to hear anything through the post. You should be okay!

Not in Clapham Common by any chance? That's "my" one - trigger speed somewhere in the mid-40s, no NIPs despite many flashes

I got flashed from behind (ooeeer) by a gantry mounted gatso on the m42 Birmingham area. It was well within that very long section of roadworks with the 50 mph limit. Was heading towards the M1. Being a gatso I know it may be a while before the film is processed, if it has any film that is. Anybody been caught by this camera?
