Is it my imagination, or did driving standards recently drop? and what about road rage? I seem to see other people getting very annoyed with eachother on a regular basis. What is going on? could it be frustration at too many cams?

Actually I have seen so much more in the way of drink driving, crossing double white lines, burnouts & everything supposedly dangerous.

Cams = more danger? something not right here. Just me? I don't think so. Even my mother has noticed, and nothing short of a bomb going off fazes her.

Be careful out there, it's a go-slow world, with a go-fast fuse.

I think you're correct.

It's not just cameras adding to driver anger, but congestion-creating initiatives like bad traffic light phasing, pinch points, chicanes, humps, badly maintained roads, fences added to the side of the road on approaches to roundabouts (so you can't filter in easily) etc etc etc all designed to p155 you off as much as possible.

Get a clear stretch and you'll find a camera or within seconds some impatient fool will pull out in front of you (especially if there's no-one behing you!)and then bumble along too slowly, when they could have waited a couple of seconds to let you past.

Yes, driving is not much fun.

So pick an early Sunday morning and have to watch out for speed traps. AAAAHHHHHH!

Hertsbiker.

Now from your post and question I can see that you are nobbut a young fresh faced lad - have you started to shave yet?- but I pleasingingly note already on the quest for wisdom.

Rest awhile, read and absord, pearls of wisdom from an old codger.

Many, many, years ago, when you could see more of the road than cars on them and there were more parking spaces than cars; when houses all had front and back gardens and Hovis bread were king, research was done at Manchester Uni with a bunch of rats, the four legged kind with tails. In them selves they are in fact very social animals, bit like humans used to be and in their environment were quiet happy. Then, furthering the experiment, they added more rats to the pile, restricting freedom of movement. Result, what had been a harmonious society turned into pure aggression. Because of the infringement on their personal space each individual rat began to attack and fight with its neighbour. Now equate this bit of research with modern living, congested roads, high density housing, crowded airlines, beaches, poofball crowds......need I go on and do you get what I am getting at?

AS my biological clock fast approaches midnight I often reflect on this bit of research and nod my head, how true, how true.

OK lesson over, go on get on that engine with two wheels, give it welly, nip in and out on someones space, infringe, infringe and see if you are admired. Not that I believe for one moment that you would do such a thing....

DWD I am probably of a more advanced senility than your good self but I can heartily concur with HB. Your analogy with t'rats may well be true but I do feel that the recent dissappearance of jam sandwiches (an expression some may not even be familiar with) has had a corresponding negative effect on road manners.
Also the weed like sprouting of revenue earners is surely merely adding to your allusion in that our personal freedoms are being eroded not for our collective well being and safety but sommething far more insideous.

a..

Then you will appreciate that it is the common courtesies that have disappeared and todays society is BLOODY SICK and self centered. Until such time as we can regain consideration for our fellow beings then we are doomed. Aggression abounds around us and as you say even our masters want to strip us of our flesh.
And no I don't wear sandals and flowered shirts but feel sorry that the young ones have not, cannot, enjoy the youth I had in green fields etc...

Can't argue there although it's hardly surprising, todays role models are Jade Goodey, Wayne Rooney and boy/girl band muppets. Our leaders are plainly out to earn themselves another term in office and would sell their children for the chance. Get rich quick or die in the process

?????????? Peace man. But seriously. DVD, you are quite correct, impatience and self centred attitudes prevail and being inside a metal box on wheels appears to increase that dramatically.
Population stress I think it is called. Just chill people, you will all feel a lot better.
