Couple of unmarked cars I spotted today:

White Omega Estate, W plate
Red Omega Saloon, W plate

Also talivan out and about on the A350 from Chippenham to M4 J17 regularly at the moment.

Keep 'em peeled...

unmarked cars = unfair

That is all.

I bet somewhere in the country there is a police version of the James Bond Q' labs, devising more and more devious and covert methods of catching motorists.

I hear they're currently working on what looks like an innocent civilian sitting on a bench reading a paper, but is really a remotely controlled dummy packed with four dozen speed cameras poking out through the sport pages

How is it unfair? Only the most stupid people drive like idiots near marked cars - the "halo" effect usually comes into play.

I see much more bad driving (and I'm not just talking inappropriate speed) when I'm in the unmarked car. If you want the drunk/drugged/untaxed/uninsured drivers off the roads, then sometimes we have to take the fight to them. If they see a marked car, they turn off and keep out of the way. They've much less chance to do that with me in the plain car on their tail.

Grow up. LIFE isn't fair.

OK, we'll allow that. But they MUST be white and decorated with more ariels than the BT tower.

Seriously though, Police do seem to be choosing 'less likely' cars from what i've seen/heard.

Was only jesting Dibble (a little anyway).

Yes, OK, I've reread my post. In my defence, I've only been up a couple of hours (on nights AGAIN), and that really got my goat.

Perhaps I SHOULD have said:

It's a bit tricky to park up near a pub to observe the suspected drink driver in a marked car. Solution? Unmarked car.

It's a bit tricky to ob the car thief you've seen in the town centre car park in a marked car. Solution? Unmarked car.

It's a bit tricky to catch people driving poorly in a marked car. Solution? Unmarked car.

It's a bit tricky to trawl the alleys and byways late at night looking for burglars, footpads and ne'er do wells in a marked car. Solution? Unmarked car.

It's a bit tricky to hide from the bosses/public in a marked car. Solution? Unmarked car.

No. Sod it. I'll stick with the original post.

B-I-L was caught by an unmarked Skoda, now that's unfair. Best bit was when we read his statement and he had said in his defence "I've been stitched up like a kipper"
