I was pulled overtoday, ironically just as I turned into the road where our garage is (in Harrow). The Bib has run a check on the car and it was coming up as my previous car (its a private plate). Personally I am very cool with this. They asked me some questions about proof of ownership. They also asked me when I got the car. I was carrying nothing that could tie me to the car, but they checked out the tax disc. My question is how long will the systems take to update? They were very friendly and wanted to know all about the car and its technical data. I must say I am glad they are that dilligent!

It depends on what you have done in relation to changes. Normally around 3 weeks is sufficient time for DVLA to udate the information you send them.

I have a letter from the DVLA at stanmore saying they are processing the change, (it was on retention as I sold the other car in January). Do the police make a note of these things or am I likely to get pulled everytime I see a police car when I am out and about in the next month?

surely the old number plate should stay on the car until the transfer is complete?

Its been on retention, so the old car will already have a new number.

Amazed that the Bib was so on the ball.

I think being Cool about it was the right reaction.
