Wanted a view from the BiB on here....
Two weeks ago I got a letter through the door with name and address on envelope (no stamp hand delivered) and a letter inside on plain white A4 paper no letter head with (in short) please contact Joe Bloggs (not real name!!) on 02xxxxxxxx. The letter was not signed, had no address, nothing. A little research shows this number is Met Police. I ignored it as it looked 'odd'. Two weeks later I get another 'letter', in fact a scrap of used torn A4 with please contact DC Bloggs of the Met police on 02xxx (same number as before).

Surely if the real police wanted to get hold of me they would use official paper or pop a business card through the door (he says he's a DC!) or leave a message on the answer machine??

Thoughts? Advice?
PS I'm a clean living non-criminal type before you reply!!!
PPS forgot to mention I'm a PH regular but use this user name for sensitive advice

Wrong!!! you are a car driver !!!!

I have had this sort of thing from Arrive Alive. After shoving the printout form in your letterbox they park a big f:censoreff van with Arrive Alive plastered over the side outside your house and conduct door to door enquiries leaving the entire neighbourhood in no doubt that your are not a clean living non-criminal type.

If you ring the number 10:1 you get soneone saying that PC such and such is not on duty or else he is on duty but not at the phone. Leave a contact number and if it matters they will be back !!

All I can say is that whenever I have left messages for people to contact me, I leave a calling card with the force crest on it, my collar number and number to call.
Sounds a bit odd to me...

Give him a call and listen to what he wants - but say nothing (also remember to suppress the caller line identity). Only arrange to meet them at the station.

Your worries may just be right!

When this happened to be it was the plods wanting help for me to be a witness (I had helped 2 girls who had just been attacked by a pedo).

The plods are under funded (in some departments) without any posh bits of printed-paper but do an excellent job.

He got 12 months by the way.
