Question for BiB's Re: Towing
Discussion
I am off on hols in a couple of weeks and would LIKE to take both Boat and Jetski with me...is there any law AGAINST putting a ballhitch on the back of the boat trailer and attaching the jetski to that?
I realise it would be double articulated and rather long but is there an actual law preventing me doing this?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, heaven forbid I get done for a proper offence!!

I'm not a legal advisor but I'm sure it aint safe or legal, but Have you thought about piling the jet ski on top of the car or into the boat.
I have a related question:
If I buy a car without MOT, can I tow it behind a massive Volvo on an A frame ? Effectively it's a trailer ? or is there a weight limit for unbraked trailer ?
If I can get it started and book it into an MOT half way between Manchester and Southport say St Helens, do you think 20 miles each half of trip is too far to justify the fact that you can legally drive with no tax or MOT if you are driving to or from the MOT station ?

I don't think there is a limit to how far you can drive to the MOT station. If the MOT station is near your home address and your taking it there from where you bought it I wouldn't have thought that was a problem.

Motor car only allowed to tow ONE Trailer.

should answer re ulw unbraked trailer.
There is nothing in the Act that states that you have to use the nearest MOT Station. Not yet tested in the High Court but there is school of thought in the legal profession that because the exemption (similar to that for No Excise Licence)only applies to go to/return for purpose of test, this does not cover you to go to Scotland from London on holiday under the exemption etc.
Incidentally any one that has MOT due in August, get in now and save a bob. Fees up by approx 2% from 1.8.2004. You can book a month early and still get a 13 month certificate.

Twill all depend what you have in your Policy of Insurance. I would have thought a claim on the Insurance covering the vehicle towing the trailer.
Always a good thing to make your Insurance Company aware of what you are doing so if the wheel does come off they do not have any loophole to knock a claim.

Buy yourself a thing called a 'Motor Tractor' Locomotive or heavy locomotive,
These are the things (lorries) that you see at fair grounds that have generators on them and nothing else. They are allowed to pull more than one trailer BUT they have seriously reduced speed limits when they do so!

what you need is a six wheeled ROVER sdi v8 converted to be a jet ski carrier, yet still 4 door/4 seats but with another pick up type back and its got a tow bar!!V8 pull your boat nicely.I bought it from a eccentric jet ski shop keeper, his finished with her,its very rusty and would need a brave man to restore her,he toured europe in it ...........go on you know you want to!£700

You can get a jetski in the back of a 4x4 pick up (single cab - not crew cab) - no modifications required all you need is one of the display stands that they use in showrooms
In the bigger Dodge trucks you could almost fit the boat! Seriously though I believe that an 8' x 4' sheet will fit flat in the bigger 'Rams'.
Viper 8 Litre V10 engine you know it makes sense!
