I have finally recieved an NIP for an offence on 07/05/04 I was the driver but not the owner, they delayed it even further by asking the driver when and how I came to the UK.

I have asked to have copies of the photos, but they have told me I will need to come and view them which involves me making a trip to the UK.

As only UK licences are acceptable I must request a court hearing, yet another trip to the UK, are they just trying it on, or am I outside of the UK's duristriction.

Thanks
Mick

Mick,
Assuming you're resident in France and have a french license.....
firstly, did it arrive by registered post? If not no proof of receipt (EU law! i.e. not served)
secondly, there's SFA they can do about it if you're not resident in GB (as there is as yet NO legal possibility for them to get it from you)
thirdly, if you've a british license, get rid of it and use your french one...
forthly, your only problem is if you return to GB regularly, they might go as far as to nick you at the border

I'd just bin it, ignore it totally and don't mention to whoever you borrowed the car from that you actually have received anything.....

Have a laugh.
Send them a very long and very complicated letter written completely in French asking for a reply in French as to their jurisdiction, their authority over a French citizen and holder of only a French drivers licence.
Then when (more likely 'if') you get a reply in English, write back, again in French sending any documentation written in English with it demanding, in French, a properly certified translaton from a legally approved translator.
It will all go away and they'll never bother to try any further, but it will waste some time and money of theirs.
