Warning for Criminals in Slough
Discussion
With Automatic Numberplate Recognition Cameras the scamera reads the plate, and it is run through the DVLA's computer records, which I believe hold some insurance and MOT data too (could be wrong). Any car which is flagged as untaxed or dodgy for whatever reason (might be legitimate and the DVLA just isn't up to date), they will send a chase car/bike after the car. After all, if you bought a car and didn't register it in your name/tax it etc. Then there's no point in them sending you a fine in the post is there? Hence all the support vehicles.
These things have been in the press a fair bit recently as the Police say that if someone has one thing missing (tax, insurance etc.) then they are xx% more likely to be involved in crime/up to no good.

Interesting location.
You'd have expected them to be on the Farnham Road between the Britwell and Manor Park...
nah, I think they're 'no-go zones' to the police these days
True, but consequently the Jolly Londoner is a great source of, erm, things...
christ i havnt been in the j.l for 'things' since '93,some things never change!!

Sounds like an ANPR sting to me. Go go the Police. Catch as many as you can.
Spot on Trefor...Glad you didn't jump on the 'catch some burglars/rapists bandwagon, because that's exactly the type of criminal you net on ANPR operations. Well, them and everybody else..

I think you will find very few people here who are against this type of van streetcop... its the OTHER vans that
.....I know mate.....but like i've said in another thread, the 60% of calls to my police station complaining about speeding motorists don't help the situation and just fuel justification for scamera partnerships and the likes.
It's funny though...I remember a village near me complaining about excessive speeds day and night and a pro-laser trap was set up to catch the 'offenders'. 75% of those stopped were 'local residents' who complained that it wasn't THEM that needed the tickets but the out-of-towners that commute through every day...One rule for one, one for another eh?
