Thumbs up to the Welsh Traffic Cops
Discussion
Yup - I have no doubt that my brother and I met (un-planned) the nicest, most lenient and down to earth raffic cops I have ever come across. Pulled by an unmarked cop car on a dual carriage way on friday evening (In Wales) brother was clocked at 101mph and myself at 97mph. We both pulled over, cops walk up, have a chat with me, lets me know the rights and wrongs including the fact that all the traffic was moving quickly followed by "nice car - look after it and drive slower" not a fine or points in sight. Brother, who cleverly topped the tonne was offered 3 points and £60 as a warning shot for the future. Full respect, doubt they read this but thanks anyway and I feel very lucky.
Interesting you say that because there were actually 4 cars in convoy, my bother was 2nd, I was 3rd and we were trying to keep up with the chap in front who was going stupidly fast. The cops said that he will be getting something in the post as they did describe the car and number of people in it to us. So question - why would they stop my brother and not the car he was following if the cops saw them ? Also, I think I was just being told off not charged because I pulled over with my brother without being signalled to pull over by the cops - I am sure if I had just carried on I would have been OK - till the next trap......

I did that once (funnily enough in N Wales) after I'd been followed by an unmarked (but obvious once it had caught me up) police car on the Colwyn Bay Bypass. This was in 1980 something (until recently the only time I'd been done). He was as polite as anything but still gave me a FPN.
The point is that several people afterwards thought I was mad to pull over - they suggested anything could have happened, he might have got bored, called elsewhere etc.
In your case he might have gone after the front vehicle and left you alone?

Which welsh police force would this be?
I did this, also in N Wales - but in 1972. I was overtaking a line of cars when a cop car came the other way. I swerved a bit as I pulled back in to the line of cars and was sure he'd come after me, so I just stoppped and waited. Because I stopped, I got a reasonable lecture and that was it. Wouldn't happen today, I suspect (except that it has...)
Dyfed-Powys police then.
Same ones that stopped me near where you were for doing 91 on a 70 near Carmarthen
ARV parked indicating right on the right turn area in the central reservation but sneakily lasering cars rears as they went past. Was told they HAD to stop me as cutoff they were using was 90. No complaints though, pulled me over, informed me why, no lecture, no condescending remarks or stupid questions just had to get the ticket and go on my way. First question i was asked when i got out of the car was "Whats the latest rugby score?" [wales v argentina was on my car radio quite loud at the time].
Very often there are Talivans on the dual carriageway between Carmarthen and the M4. Nice straight long road and rich pickings at 6am on a saturday where the few cars about are ALL speeding...
(nope wasnt joking - was genuinely wondering which police force it was given there are Gwent,South Wales, Dyfed-Powys and North Wales (Brunstromia) )

Sorry, was waiting for a sheep response - won't assume in future.
Yup - all in all, it is a fast road but by the sounds of things, there interest is in keeping the traffic flowing safely, having a look in a nice car and checking the rugby scores (even if they can't play).
Most amusing part of my experience was going for my producer in local station (differnet force area) and none of the 5 in there had a clue what to make of or do with the DP force ticket.
"Different forces have different forms and this form is well err strange. We havent got a clue what to do here. Do you mind if we take a photocopy of it and work it out from there?"
They duly took a copy, took my shiny new (and until then clean licence) off me and thats the last ive heard of it.
Wish id taken my 106 that weekend instead, the slight hill combined with the 4 air cylinders, lead weights and other gear means theyd never have caught me speeding as the damn thing would never have broken 75 going up there

LOL - My brother was in a 1.1 Corsa - he said he had never cracked three figures until then. had to chuckle.
