Camera Van location
Discussion
Hi,
a talivan has been spotted at the end of my street, where there are no accidents, no deaths but admitably a fair few people speed in the area.
What are the guidelines for the location of the camera van (there are no fixed speed camera's in my area, or indeed on this road - the nearest is 4 miles away).
As I was talking these pictures everyone braked regardless of the speed they were doing, various people nearly missed the junction/crashed and I heard several screeches of the tyres. The distance involved here is about 50ft from the first blocked image... this is a revenue gaining scamera van!
They've made an enemy of me from the debarkle with the red-light camera and the lack of compassion or indeed acknowledgement from said event. I'm contemplating writing to them asking as to why they have positioned the van here.

I've been out and had another look, there is now a sign (facing the wrong way) at the bottom of the bank, the camera van only becomes fully clear when the camera itself is visible (i.e. no warning).
Prior to this we have seen those wires across the road for twice in teh past 3 months or so for a week. I'm guessing they've looked at the speeds and realised they can make money from that piece
Usually I'd be all for it, as as my Dad pointed out some cars travel at high velocity up the bank there, but this is out of order - it's completely hidden until it catches you. Disgraceful and I offer no support what-so-ever!

street
, you are correct, there is a hell-of-a-lot happening in that area to the extent that 30mph is often too fast, I agree with enforcing the law, but this is taking the mick as it's causing more problems than it not been there.
It's council owned I'm reckoning
I don't want to get myself in trouble in that sense, I don't mind writing (where you can re-read, correct yourself...) arguments aren't my thing.

I don't think you'd get into trouble explaining what you've explained in post 1 - I'd do the same if it were my road. The emphasis would be you want the same thing - less accidents. I guess if they moved it 2 feet closer to the road it would be just that bit more visible and therefore more effective in promoting safety. This is all provided the scamera operator isn't a tw@
Sorry for any confusion

just get your neighbour with the red truck to park on the road in the vans line of sight, and the guy with the white van to park across the rear of the scamera van. Obviously make sure that they park legaly
Which they are not doing at the moment...(on the pavement)..
Street

I don't actually live on that street, I live off the junction which it's parked at in a quiet cul-de-sac.
They always park there, indeed have been since we've lived here. On our road we have several blokes who parks on blind bends, opposite the entrance to our backlane (nearly had an accident as you can't see and have to edge out)... Parking round here is bad, Speed is an issue yes but it just annoys me it's on my road if you know what I mean.

Ironically, if they block the road, it's legal.... I am sure street will correct me if I'm wrong on this
