In the opinion of fellow PHers, what does an amber flashing light signify?

Would be grateful if BiB did not post until later, so we can get an idea of Joe Public`s opinion.

It has no significance I am aware of, other than that of a warning.

Flashing Amber on traffic lights means you may procead if the pedestrian crossing is clear. Not, as many numpties believe, "get out the road you damn pedestrians, its my right of way"

Flasing amber on another car means either the driver is signaling a manouvre or there is a hazard (either heavy traffic ahead on a motorway or they have broken down or parked in a dodgy place)

I think

Roadworks also have flashing amber lights (assuming bloody students haven't nicked themm ), and of course some pedestrian crossings have Belisha beacons etc.

I think flashing amber is simply showing that caution is required.

Yippee. Mike Wins. Question was put many moons ago on my LGV course. Amazingly dumb answers (me included) from those present.

Flashing amber means that the nice AA man has arrived.
