Tesco Ipad error

So did anybody manage to take advantage of the Ipad price error today on the Tesco Direct website?

£49.99 for a new Ipad. I got as far as the page where you enter your payment details and everything crashed. I don't know what time it was first discovered but I only found out about an hour ago.

A mate of mine managed to buy 4, whether they follow through with the order or not, I don't know. Do they have to honour the sale in that situation?

If people like your mate didn't go and buy 4, things like this would go un-noticed for longer.

I run a ecommerce website, we have made the odd pricing error. It never takes long to realise as you soon get the greedy chap trying to order 100qty!!

They don't have to honour it, if you read their terms and conditions it will probably say that the contract isn't formed until they despatch the order or till they send a certain email or something. They'll just say sorry and refund.

Happened a few times before, if you read their small print you have no chance of getting it at that price

Crops up regularly.
Few bother to read the 'Terms and Conditions' that most on-line traders have. If they did they would find something like this - this is from Section 1 of the Tesco Direct T&Cs:
"If, by mistake, we have under priced an item, we will not be liable to supply that item to you at the stated price, provided that we notify you before we despatch the item to you. In those circumstances, we will notify the correct price to you so you can decide whether or not you wish to order the item at that price. If you decide not to order the item, we will give you a full refund on any amount already paid for that item in accordance with our refund policy in section 7 below."
