8 cars untaxed in my street

Counted 8 cars with no round pieces of paper in their windscreen last night. Ok, 2 of them were only just out of date but that still left 6 cars in my street with seriously out of date tax discs/no tax displayed.

To whom should these be reported?

Perhaps they have forgotten. Maybe tell them first.

If you report them to the police straight away make sure you never ever forget to pay yours on time or do anything wrong ever again.

Don't tell them because, if they get in trouble later, they'll assume you've grassed them even if you haven't.

Parking is a nightmare for hard working peeps who finish after 5.01pm, and these are not "hardworking people". It is in the heart of chavscumland...

forgot to add... 6 cars x 150 a year = one months wages for a nice Traffic warden so they can police the system and add more scameras

The DVLA will know that they arent taxed and will automatically be issuing penaltys, thats the way they do it now. Chances are that the cars arent registered in the users name though, otherwise they would have had a visit already.

Yep they'll be in someone elses name at 111 Fictisious Street. Or just SORN.

I don't know who the owners are and don't really care either. They are about 50 houses down, so I pass them every day walking the dog. If I knew them then I probably wouldn't say a word... Maybe I should post the plates later??

I would imagine that there's a good chance that they also won't be insured. If I was in such close proximity I'd report them - because if/when they come into contact with your car/family/property it could all get very messy indeed.

If you wish to report a vehicle that appears to be unlicensed, the details should be sent in writing to your nearest DVLA Local Office. This may be done ANONYMOUSLY

The details must include:

the registration mark;
location of the vehicle;
the make/model, colour;

wherever possible, please provide:
the time it can be seen on the public road;
name and address of the owner;

The information provided can then be used for further investigations by an Inquiry Officer who will make a formal sighting of the vehicle and complete a witness statement.

As for those who say he should mind his own business...lets hope if you have a small fender bender it's with an untaxed/uninsured vehicle and see whos business you'd be minding..!...
