Not a happy bunny! Out yesterday when a close friend (no, no names ) decided to go off piste and disappeared up the grass bank on a slip road leading onto the M25. From where I was (alongside him) it looked pretty serious. I pulled in, leaving the car in the inside lane. Thank God friend ok but car a mess. Luckily one of those lorries that travels the motorways with cones etc turned up straight away and cordoned the area off. My car was 50yds up the road blocking the inside lane. With all the rubber-neckers I thought it would only be a matter of time before someone shunted my car, so I reversed back to the safety of the cones. I was then informed in no uncertain terms that I had broken the law and would face prosecution. I was only trying to avoid another accident, and at the time thought my friend could be seriously injured or worse, yet I'm to be done. Its not as if I had made a wrong turn and was reversing back to rejoin the right carriageway. I feel a great sense of injustice. To anyone in the know do you reckon I have mitigating circumstances?

....mounts white charger and rides to my Lady's rescue..

Reg 8 MW (England and Wales) Regs 1982 prohibits reversing on a M way except to move backwards to enable it to pull forward (clearing an obstruction) or to connect to another vehicle. Neither of which apply to you it seems.

.....draws sword...

But at Reg 16 is an exemption from MWay Regs which allows it to be done to avoid or prevent an accident or to cause as little danger as possible to other users.

...... dismounts and seeks my lady's favour.

PS. From your profile may I be so bold Ma'am as to suggest you sell the metal and buy a decent castle?

Saw you from the M25 in ma truck. No injuries I take it (apart from bruised ego perhaps!) My guess is a bit too much right foot off the roundabout after that short spell of rain.
