I was wondering about the different methods employed on MWs at night to catch speeders.

Not much emphasis is placed on catching speeders at night on the motorway...

It's a case of watching your mirrors...

Top tip then. Only make "progress" at night.

Maybe have your lights off so they cant see you anyway

That is a joke before anyone goes and tries it!

There has been a spate of people I know pulled over by marked/unmarked cars following from behind and using SPECS.

Some for ridiculous speeds : 85 on 70 motorway, in clear weather with no traffic, late at night ! pah !

I read some good advice once : travel at a higher speed than the flow of traffic so that faster cars approaching from behind are obvious, let faster cars through, try to be the middle man in a "train" of faster moving cars. Police tend to pull the front and back drivers first.

Yep, keep good awareness (as you should be doing anyway!) If you pass a car and it speeds up after you, then slow down and let it pass. Common sense really.

Always good practice on a motorway that, if you're making decent 'progress' to let anything that even keeps pace (let alone closes on you) pass you very smartly...

Having said this, I'm clearly looking forward to my first ever ticket this weekend :-)

SPECS is a fixed camera system and is not linked to traffic cars - Police cars use VASCAR and the like.

SPECS:

VASCAR:
www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/speed04.htm

Wait, I saw a guy in a Vauxhall 2 nights ago, the new sports car driving without lights, about 120MPH
